Job Description
Alpha students complete their full academic workload in two hours each day. This isn't an exaggeration—it's the foundation of why this position exists.
Academic instruction is delivered through adaptive software. What the software cannot provide is the human element: persuading a seven-year-old that her capabilities extend beyond her current self-perception. That's where you come in. Your role centers on serving as a guide—cultivating confidence, focus, resilience, and the courage to tackle challenges in young children who are still mastering basic skills like tying shoelaces.
You'll oversee a single K-3 cohort band: either Kindergarten-1st grade or 2nd-3rd grade. Approximately half your time will be devoted to energetic, hour-long workshops focused on life skills—public speaking, feedback exchange, attention management. The remaining time involves coaching work, both one-on-one and in small groups, leveraging real-time learning data to ensure every child progresses toward challenging weekly targets. Your workshops should leave students more capable than when they arrived, and your coaching sessions should expand their sense of what's possible.
A teaching credential or formal education background is not required. Many of our most effective team members in this role have backgrounds in youth athletics, children's theater, camp counseling, and after-school programming. We seek someone children naturally respect and want to impress—someone who maintains high standards while never diminishing a child's sense of self-worth.
This is a full-time, on-site position requiring five days per week at an Alpha campus. Because we recruit across the country, job listings may appear in cities near campuses rather than at exact campus locations.

What You Will Be Doing
- Facilitate hour-long life-skills workshops where K-3 students actively practice communication, focus, and feedback through speaking and movement—not seated observation or passive listening.
- Provide individual and small-group coaching, utilizing Coachbot (Alpha's real-time learning-analytics platform) to identify students falling behind and intervene before weekly objectives become unattainable.
- Evaluate life-skill proficiency through Test2Pass, Alpha's demonstration-based mastery standard, continuing coaching until students can execute the skill—mere participation does not meet the standard.
- Adapt your methods to match developmental stages: songs, physical activity, and narrative techniques for younger students; independence, self-monitoring, and personal accountability for 2nd and 3rd graders.
- Establish sufficient trust with each student that they're willing to attempt difficult tasks in your presence and persist through initial failures.
- Take ownership of your cohort's performance metrics. Your students' progress appears on a weekly dashboard visible to the entire team.
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Delivering traditional academic instruction from the classroom front. Adaptive software manages academic content.
- Creating curriculum materials from the ground up. You'll customize and refine established frameworks, not build them from scratch.
- Monitoring a quiet computer lab environment. If students are working independently while you remain stationary, the model isn't functioning correctly.
- Reducing expectations when students face difficulty. You guide the student toward the standard—the standard never moves toward the student.
- Grading assignments, issuing homework, or managing routine parent correspondence.
- Working from home or on a part-time basis. This position requires on-site presence five days weekly at a physical campus.
Kindergarten Teacher Key Responsibilities
Develop a K-3 cohort of students who are enthusiastic about attending school, consistently achieve ambitious learning targets week after week, and complete elementary education equipped with essential life skills—confidence, focus, communication, resilience—that will continue benefiting them decades into the future.
Basic Requirements
- Able and willing to work on-site five days weekly at one of the Alpha campuses specified in this posting.
- Bachelor's degree in any discipline. A teaching certificate is not necessary.
- Minimum 3 years of direct experience working with children ages 4-9—in teaching, coaching, tutoring, camps, youth programs, children's theater, or comparable environments where children attended because of your presence.
- Demonstrated history of helping young children achieve goals they initially believed were beyond their reach, with concrete examples you can describe in detail.
- Experience facilitating structured group activities for young children while maintaining engagement, focus, and participation among 10-15 or more students.
- Capacity to communicate concepts clearly to young learners and adjust group dynamics in real time when attention, behavior, or motivation declines.
- Proven ability to implement feedback by modifying your methods and enhancing results.
- Comfortable with performance measurement. You'll be held accountable for weekly cohort metrics and will use that data to prioritize your efforts.
- Willing to allow AI to manage academic instruction while you concentrate on coaching, motivation, and life-skill development.
- Capable of being authentically warm while remaining firm on expectations simultaneously.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship.
Nice-to-have Requirements
- Background in youth sports, children's theater, camp leadership, Montessori education, progressive educational models, or high-engagement after-school programs.
- Personal experience pursuing ambitious goals—in academics, athletics, the arts, or professional life—and discovering what commitment requires.
- Storytelling or performance abilities that captivate a room of six-year-olds without needing to raise your voice.
- Concrete examples of transforming a hesitant or reserved child into a confident, active participant.
