Alpha students complete their full academic program in just two hours each day. That's accurate, and it's exactly why this position exists.
Adaptive software manages academic instruction. What technology cannot provide is the ability to persuade a seven-year-old that her potential exceeds her current self-perception — that's where you come in. In this position, you'll serve as a guide, dedicating your time to developing confidence, concentration, resilience, and the courage to tackle difficult challenges in young children who are still mastering basic tasks like tying shoelaces.
You'll oversee one K-3 cohort band, either Kindergarten-1st grade or 2nd-3rd. Half of your day involves high-energy, hour-long workshops focused on life skills: public speaking, exchanging feedback, and sustaining attention. The remaining half consists of coaching, delivered one-on-one and in small groups, utilizing real-time learning data to ensure every child progresses toward an ambitious weekly target. Students should exit your workshops with enhanced capabilities, and leave your coaching sessions with expanded belief in their own potential.
A teaching certificate or formal education background is not required. Some of our most effective team members in this role have backgrounds in youth sports, children's theater, camp direction, and after-school programming. We're seeking someone children naturally respect and strive to impress, who can maintain rigorous standards while never diminishing a child's sense of worth.
This is a full-time, on-site position, five days per week, at an Alpha campus. We conduct national recruitment, so job postings may appear in neighboring cities that currently lack a campus.

What You Will Be Doing
- Facilitate hour-long life-skills workshops where K-3 students practice communication, concentration, and feedback through active participation and physical engagement — not seated instruction or traditional lectures.
- Provide coaching to students individually and in small groups, leveraging Coachbot (Alpha's real-time learning-analytics platform) to identify precisely which students are falling behind and intervene before a weekly target becomes unattainable.
- Evaluate life-skill proficiency through Test2Pass, Alpha's demonstration-based competency standard, and continue coaching until a student can genuinely perform the skill — mere participation does not meet the threshold.
- Adapt your methodology to match the developmental stage before you: songs, movement, and narrative for the youngest cohort; autonomy, self-monitoring, and responsibility for 2nd and 3rd graders.
- Establish sufficient trust with each child so they'll risk attempting something challenging in your presence and persist when initial efforts don't succeed.
- Take ownership of your cohort's metrics. You'll monitor your students' advancement on a dashboard weekly, and that data will be visible to the entire team.
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Delivering academic instruction from the front of a classroom. Adaptive software provides the academic content.
- Creating curriculum materials from the ground up. You'll customize and refine established playbooks, not develop them independently.
- Overseeing a quiet computer laboratory. If students are engaged in independent work and you're stationary, something has broken down.
- Reducing expectations when a student encounters difficulty. You advance the student toward the objective — never adjust the objective toward the student.
- Evaluating assignments, distributing homework, or managing routine parent correspondence.
- Operating remotely or on a part-time basis. This is an on-site position, five days per week, at a physical campus.
Elementary School Teacher Key Responsibilities
Develop a cohort of K-3 students who are enthusiastic about attending school, consistently achieve ambitious learning objectives week after week, and complete elementary education equipped with the life skills — confidence, focus, communication, resilience — that will continue to benefit them two decades into the future.
Basic Requirements
- Willing and able to work on-site, five days per week, at one of the Alpha campuses listed in this posting.
- Bachelor's degree in any field. A teaching certificate is not required.
- At least 3 years of direct experience working with children ages 4-9 — teaching, coaching, tutoring, camps, youth programs, children's theater, or a comparable environment where children attended because of your presence.
- A demonstrated history of helping young children achieve goals they initially believed were beyond their reach, with concrete examples you can discuss in detail.
- Experience facilitating structured activities for groups of young children and maintaining engagement, focus, and participation among 10-15 or more students.
- The capacity to communicate concepts clearly to young learners and redirect a group immediately when attention, behavior, or motivation begins to decline.
- A proven record of responding to feedback by modifying your methods and enhancing results.
- Comfortable with performance measurement. You'll be held accountable to weekly cohort data, and you'll apply that data to inform your time allocation decisions.
- Willing to allow AI to manage academic instruction while you concentrate on coaching, motivation, and life skills development.
- The capacity to maintain genuine warmth while remaining completely firm on expectations, simultaneously.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
Nice-to-have Requirements
- Experience in youth athletics, children's theater, camp administration, Montessori education, progressive education models, or high-engagement after-school programs.
- A personal background of pursuing something ambitious — in academics, athletics, the arts, or your professional career — and discovering what that pursuit demands.
- Storytelling or performance abilities that captivate a room of six-year-olds without needing to raise your voice.
- Concrete examples of transforming a hesitant or reserved child into a confident, engaged participant.
