As a critical part of Sentient Solutions' financial operations, the Bookkeeper/Accountant maintains the general ledger, processes payroll, manages accounts payable and receivable, tracks expenses, and performs bank reconciliations. The role ensures compliance with accounting standards and supports the preparation of financial statements that form the basis for strategic decision-making. Flexibility with working hours is essential to address the needs of a remote work environment. Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records by performing daily bookkeeping tasks including data entry and verification for all financial transactions.
- Reconcile accounts regularly, including bank statements, general ledger, and financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including invoice processing, payment tracking, and timely collections.
- Prepare and process payroll accurately and in compliance with relevant laws and company policies.
- Track and categorize expenses consistently to ensure compliance with budget and financial controls.
- Utilize bookkeeping software such as QuickBooks and Xero to record transactions and generate reports.
- Develop and maintain financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Apply accounting standards and principles to ensure all financial practices and reports adhere to regulatory requirements.
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes by preparing necessary schedules and reconciliations.
- Collaborate remotely with other departments to gather financial information and resolve discrepancies.
- Use Microsoft Excel to build financial models, perform advanced calculations, and analyze data for accurate financial decision support.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial information and uphold ethical accounting practices at all times.
- Stay updated on new bookkeeping and accounting software updates and industry best practices to continuously improve financial processes.
