Accountant

**Accountant (Contract)** **$32/hour** **12‑Month Contract (Potential to go Permanent)** **On‑site \| Burnaby, BC** **Your New Company** Hays Specialist Recruitment is partnering with a well‑established organization in the film production space to hire an **Accountant** on a 12‑month contract with strong potential to convert to permanent. This is a great opportunity for an experienced, hands‑on accountant who enjoys owning the month‑end close process and supporting business decision‑making in a collaborative, on‑site team environment. **Key Responsibilities** * Perform month‑end close activities for assigned business units, including accruals, reconciliations, and supporting schedules * Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and ensure alignment between sub‑ledgers and control accounts * Complete variance analysis and provide insights to operations and management * Support the Director of Finance with reporting accuracy, process improvements, and ad‑hoc analysis * Assist with general ledger maintenance and ensure compliance with internal controls * Participate in process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and data accuracy * Support sustainability and ESG initiatives through accuracy in reporting and continuous improvement * Assist with additional accounting projects and requests as needed **What You Need to Succeed** * Diploma or degree in Commerce, Business, or Accounting * Minimum 3\+ years of experience in finance or accounting * Strong understanding of month‑end close and general accounting principles * Excellent analytical and communication skills * Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables and lookups required) * Experience with ERP/accounting systems (Acumatica or inventory systems considered an asset) * Currently working toward CPA * Adaptable, open to feedback, and motivated to learn and grow **What’s in It for You** This role offers hands‑on exposure to a full accounting cycle within a supportive, collaborative team.
