This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a thriving organization involved in impactful real estate projects and developments. **About The Role** The Financial Accountant will play a crucial role in managing the financial operations within the organization, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all accounting processes. The successful candidate will oversee transactional accounting activities, manage month\-end and year\-end closing procedures, and support various financial planning initiatives. This position requires a detail\-oriented professional with a solid understanding of accounting standards such as ASPE and IFRS, especially in relation to financial instruments, revenue recognition, and accruals. The role involves interpreting contractual agreements, preparing statutory financial statements, supporting internal and external audits, and managing accounts receivable activities. Additionally, the Financial Accountant will contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support strategic decision\-making and project management. **Qualifications** The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three to four years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within the real estate or related industries. A CPA designation or in\-progress certification is required, demonstrating a strong foundation in accounting principles and practices. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in financial reporting, reconciliation, and compliance with regulatory standards. Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively within a team are essential. Familiarity with financial systems, ERP software, and advanced Excel skills will be advantageous. Candidates must currently reside in Calgary or the surrounding area and be authorized to work in Canada. **Responsibilities** * Oversee general transactional accounting activities, ensuring all entries are accurate and recorded in accordance with company policies and accounting standards. * Manage the month\-end, quarter\-end, and year\-end closing processes, ensuring timely completion and compliance with reporting deadlines. * Interpret and apply contractual agreements such as LPAs, DoTs, and loan agreements to facilitate project setup, billing, and ongoing financial requirements. * Apply professional accounting standards, including ASPE and IFRS, focusing on financial instruments, revenue recognition, and accruals. * Perform reconciliations and billings accurately and promptly, ensuring completeness and adherence to contractual terms. * Prepare statutory financial statements and process unit/share redemption or retraction transactions as required. * Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities, maintaining internal controls and compliance frameworks. * Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and insights, contributing to continuous process improvements. * Manage accounts receivable activities, including collections, dispute resolution, and input into cash flow forecasts. * Support capital activities such as fundraising, capital calls, distributions, and preparing investor statements and unitholder registries. * Deliver accurate management reports, including project cost reports, P\&L variance analysis, and cost forecasting, participating in financial reviews and strategic planning sessions. **Benefits** Vaco by Highspring offers a competitive salary range of $85,000 to $105,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
