Reporting directly to the Finance Director, this role is pivotal in managing all accounting activities within the organization. The successful candidate will oversee day\-to\-day accounting operations, ensure compliance with US GAAP, and support strategic financial initiatives. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth of Trane Technologies by implementing efficient financial processes and collaborating across departments to optimize financial performance. The Chief Accountant will play a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting audits, and driving process improvements to enhance operational efficiency. **Qualifications** * Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification required. * Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance functions, with proven leadership as an accounting supervisor, chief, or senior accountant. * Deep understanding of US GAAP and financial reporting standards. * Proficiency in advanced Excel functions, Microsoft Office Suite, and accounting software such as Oracle. * Experience with ERP or accounting system implementation is an asset. * Background in start\-up or SaaS environments is advantageous. * Experience managing multi\-jurisdiction, multi\-company, and multi\-currency operations. * Knowledge of corporate taxation processes and compliance. * Excellent communication skills in both English and French, written and verbal. * Strong analytical, problem\-solving, organizational, and prioritization skills with meticulous attention to detail. * A collaborative team player with a positive attitude, capable of knowledge sharing and working effectively in fast\-paced settings. * Ability to work at least 8 days per month from the Montreal office to support team activities and cross\-functional collaboration. **Responsibilities** Manage daily accounting operations, including order\-to\-cash and procure\-to\-pay cycles, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Supervise a team of two accounting professionals responsible for accounts payable and general ledger activities. Support customer contracts and invoicing processes to ensure proper billing, sales tax application, and revenue recognition in accordance with US GAAP standards. Review and approve supplier invoices, ensuring proper recording and adherence to delegation of authority. Maintain the general ledger by preparing, reviewing, and posting journal entries, ensuring all transactions are correctly documented and recorded. Oversee month\-end close procedures, reviewing supporting documentation and reconciliations performed by the team. Reconcile inter\-company transactions and generate related invoices as necessary to ensure consistency across entities. Prepare and analyze financial reports for month\-end, quarter\-end, and year\-end closing activities, providing insights and responding to management requests promptly. Lead process improvement initiatives aimed at increasing efficiency and automation within the finance function. Develop strong working relationships with cross\-departmental teams to optimize workflows and enhance financial visibility.
