Staff Nurse - Orthopaedics (Open to Newly Qualified Nurses)

Job Overview Treetops is a 22-bed inpatient unit specialising primarily in elective orthopaedics, with additional services in urology, breast care, and plastics. The unit comprises 14 side rooms and 2 bays, operating seven days a week, with procedures offered Monday to Saturday.

Our dedicated team is committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-based, and patient-centred care, ensuring the best possible outcomes and experiences for every patient. We also focus on professional development and clinical excellence, fostering a supportive and collaborative working environment.

There are two positions available, each offered as a 12-month fixed-term contract or secondment opportunity for internal candidates (subject to line manager approval).

Main duties of the job

• To assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care working as a member of the team under the direction of the NIC.
• To be responsible for the organising and co-ordination of nursing services in the department in the absence of senior staff on a regular basis.
• To exercise accountability as set out in the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
• To be responsible for all nursing care standards and to maintain high clinical standards.
• To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which.
• Engages, enables, and empowers others.
• Uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.
• To be accountable as a prominent role model, leading by example, demonstrating diverse expert clinical skills, clear professional and organisational values while overseeing the department.
• Taking responsibility for the planning, practice and evaluation of nursing care ensuring that the highest standard and quality of nursing care is delivered.
• To work with the clinical nurse specialists and wider MDT in developing and providing specialised nursing care programmes to a diverse range of patients and to ensure support to carers.
• Ensure the highest standard and quality of nursing care is delivered.

Qualification

Essential criteria

• Registered General Nurse (RGN)
• Current NMC Registration

Desirable criteria

• Degree in nursing or other relevant field
• Undertaking or completing further academic study
• Post Registration qualification in speciality
