Software Engineer

Background About us Core Engineering runs shared capabilities that help product teams ship software securely and reliably. This includes CI/CD, GitOps, workflow automation, artifact and package management, secrets, software supply chain security, infrastructure provisioning, developer tooling, and engineering metrics. In this role, you’ll work closely with the Engineering Metrics \& Intelligence team and collaborate with the Internal Developer Platform area. Role overview We’re looking for a software engineer who can help us move our engineering metrics and core delivery capabilities forward. You’ll help shape the measures we care about, support a wider community around them, and make sure our tools and practices stay secure, reliable, and compliant. On a day\-to\-day basis, you will build and operate core delivery and security services using infrastructure as code, Kubernetes, and modern observability tooling. The scope of the consultant services is to assist in What you’ll do • Operate and improve shared capabilities such as CI/CD, GitOps, workflows, artifact/package repositories, secrets, and supply chain security. • Automate and refine developer workflows to reduce friction and improve delivery speed and quality. • Implement secure\-by\-default patterns, for example using policy as code, RBAC, multi\-tenant clusters, and secrets management. • Help define and track SLIs/SLOs, improve observability, and support incident handling and follow\-up. • Contribute to reusable modules, templates, and golden paths that make it easier for teams to do the right thing. • Work with Engineering Metrics \& Intelligence to define metrics, grow a metrics\-minded community, and ensure data flows are secure, reliable, and compliant. • Partner with product teams to measure and improve lead time, failure rates, MTTR, and other engineering KPIs, and to turn insights into concrete changes. Requirements: Desired knowledge, experience, competence, skills etc • 3–6\+ years of experience in software and/or platform engineering, including production environments. • Solid experience with at least one major cloud provider (GCP preferred; Alibaba Cloud/AliCloud is a plus). • Hands\-on experience with Kubernetes and containers. • Experience with serverless containers (for example GCP Cloud Run). • Practical experience with infrastructure as code, especially Terraform. • Experience with GitOps and CI/CD (for example Argo CD or Flux, GitHub Actions or similar tools). • Experience with secrets management (Vault, GCP Secret Manager, or similar). • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Go or TypeScript/JavaScript. • Practical observability and reliability experience, e.g. Prometheus/Grafana, OpenTelemetry, SLIs/SLOs, and working with incidents. • Proven experience with engineering metrics and developer experience frameworks, including: • Using DORA and SPACE metrics in practice (such as lead time, deployment frequency, MTTR, reliability, satisfaction). • Using MyDX or similar developer experience tooling to collect feedback and telemetry. • Instrumenting pipelines/services, building or refining dashboards, and using insights to drive real changes with teams (not just reporting numbers). • Familiarity with secure software delivery, image registries, SBOMs, and dependency management.
