Job Description

ABOUT YOUR ROLE

As a Project Accountant, you will be reporting to the Director of Finance. Your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Assembling progress draws and performing variance analysis
  • Reconciling quarterly construction reports to project records and recording budget and cost adjustments as needed
  • Preparing project cash flow forecasts
  • Advising on project cost coding
  • Supporting the Development, Construction, and Sales \& Marketing departments with ad hoc reporting
  • Monitoring project performance metrics, including IRR
  • Preparing quarterly budget updates and other project reporting for investors
  • Monitoring compliance with loan conditions and financial covenants
  • Monitoring Letters of Credit and deposits, and reconciling quarterly
  • Managing the accounting for a portfolio of development projects
  • Assisting with full-cycle accounting for project entities as needed
  • Monitoring equity interest schedules
  • Performing job cost to GL reconciliations and preparing associated journal entries
  • Managing joint venture (JV) accounting
  • Supporting year-end close for project entities
  • Identifying and implementing process optimization opportunities

WHAT YOU BRING

You will ideally bring the following qualifications and traits:

  • Completion of an undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA designation, or enrolled in the CPA program, considered an asset
  • 2-5 years of experience in development project or construction accounting
  • A track record of identifying operational reporting efficiencies and process enhancements
  • Solution-oriented with a growth mindset
  • Easygoing, approachable, and coachable
  • Analytical and detail-oriented
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Excel
  • Experience with financial modelling considered an asset
