Job Description
We are seeking a senior Litigation Counsel with 10+ years of experience to join a highly regarded litigation practice, managing sophisticated commercial disputes while contributing to complex and impactful legal matters.This opportunity is ideal for an experienced litigator who enjoys leading high-value litigation files, working directly with clients, and collaborating on strategic, precedent-setting matters. While experience in Indigenous rights, title, Crown, or Aboriginal litigation is considered an asset, the primary focus of this role will be complex commercial litigation.
Responsibilities
- Independently manage complex commercial litigation files from intake through resolution, trial, and appeal where required
- Develop and implement litigation strategies while providing practical legal advice to clients
- Conduct examinations for discovery, mediations, arbitrations, and settlement negotiations
- Draft pleadings, motions, factums, affidavits, legal opinions, and other litigation materials
- Appear before courts, tribunals, and arbitration panels
- Work directly with clients, experts, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders throughout the litigation process
- Manage litigation budgets, timelines, and overall file progression
- Collaborate with colleagues on complex and high-profile litigation mandates
- Support business development initiatives and foster long-term client relationships
Qualifications
- Licensed and in good standing with a Canadian Law Society
- Approximately 10+ years of commercial litigation experience
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex litigation files from inception through resolution
- Strong advocacy, legal research, drafting, negotiation, and strategic thinking skills
- Experience appearing before superior courts and appellate courts
- Excellent client management, communication, and relationship-building abilities
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative and high-performing team
- Experience in Indigenous rights, title, Crown, constitutional, or Aboriginal litigation is considered an asset
