Legal Counsel - Regulatory, HSE and Compliance

We are currently instructed on a rare in\-house legal opportunity supporting a major UK infrastructure and energy project operating within a highly regulated and safety\-critical environment. This is not a traditional commercial or purely advisory regulatory role. The successful candidate will work closely with operational, engineering, compliance and leadership teams on a broad range of matters including: • regulatory compliance • health \& safety • environmental matters • governance and assurance • incident response and investigations • regulator engagement • construction and operational delivery interfaces The role would suit a lawyer who is comfortable operating close to the business within a fast\-moving and complex operational environment where legal advice is closely intertwined with real\-world delivery, safety and regulatory risk. Key attributes: • commercially pragmatic • resilient and calm under pressure • strong stakeholder management capability • capable of balancing legal risk with operational realities • comfortable navigating ambiguity and competing priorities Prior experience engaging with regulators and/or advising on HS\&E, operational compliance, investigations or regulatory governance matters would be highly beneficial. This is an opportunity to work on genuinely complex and high\-profile issues within a business delivering infrastructure of significant national importance.
