Commercial Legal Counsel

With strong growth ambitions and a collaborative culture, the organisation offers the opportunity to contribute to a business at a pivotal stage of its journey. **The role:** An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Commercial Legal Counsel to take ownership of the end\-to\-end contracting function within a fast\-scaling environment. Reporting into senior legal leadership, this individual will play a pivotal role in shaping commercial legal strategy, leading negotiations with customers and partners, and building scalable legal infrastructure from the ground up. This is a high\-autonomy role suited to someone who enjoys operating at pace and embedding themselves within cross\-functional teams. **Key responsibilities:** * Lead drafting, review, and negotiation of a broad range of commercial agreements across customers, suppliers, and partners * Own the full contract lifecycle, from intake and triage through to execution and post\-signature management * Develop and maintain legal playbooks, templates, and fallback positions to support business scalability * Design and implement efficient legal workflows, leveraging automation and AI tools to optimise turnaround times * Set positions on key commercial terms including liability, indemnities, IP, data protection, and service levels * Partner closely with Sales, Procurement, Operations, and Engineering teams to support commercial outcomes * Provide day\-to\-day legal advice on commercial matters across the business * Manage external counsel where required * Support the selection and implementation of legal technology and contract lifecycle management systems **About you:** * **Qualified solicitor (England \& Wales or equivalent) with approximately 4–6 years PQE** * Strong experience leading commercial contract negotiations end\-to\-end * Experience advising on **AI\-related agreements and legal frameworks** , including areas such as data usage, model governance, and regulatory considerations * Solid understanding of **emerging AI regulation and risk** (e.g. data protection, IP, and ethical use of AI) * Excellent drafting skills with a structured and scalable approach to legal processes * Demonstrated ability to work in fast\-paced, high\-growth or technology\-led environments * Commercially pragmatic with strong stakeholder management skills * Interest in or experience using AI tools to enhance legal workflows and efficiency * Clear and confident communicator, able to simplify complex legal concepts **What’s in it for you:** * Competitive salary with meaningful equity participation * Opportunity to build and shape a legal function within a cutting\-edge technology business * Flexible and supportive working environment with a focus on productivity and wellbeing * Access to high\-spec equipment and tools to enable high performance * Comprehensive health and wellbeing benefits * Relocation and visa support where applicable * A collaborative, ambitious, and forward\-thinking culture **How to Apply:** For a confidential chat, contact Andelize at andelize@heriotbrown.com
