Job Description

Gatronova is seeking an experienced technical leader to join our manufacturing operations.

ROLE PURPOSE

The General Manager - Technical / Process will lead the technical, process engineering, quality, reliability and technology functions across Gatron Plant’s manufacturing operations, including polymerization, textile yarn, preform, utilities, powerhouse and projects.

The position is responsible for ensuring safe, stable, high-quality and cost-efficient production while driving continuous improvement, capacity enhancement and technological excellence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic and Technical Leadership

  • Define and implement the technical and process engineering roadmap for polymer and yarn manufacturing.
  • Serve as the principal technical authority for polymerization, spinning, drawing, texturizing and downstream processes.
  • Support business growth through capacity expansion, product development and technology upgrades.
  • Build, mentor and lead high-performing technical and process engineering teams.

Polymer and Yarn Process Engineering

  • Oversee polymerization processes, including PET, PP, PS and Nylon, as applicable, ensuring optimal conversion, IV control and process consistency.
  • Lead process optimization across POY, FDY, PSF and staple-fibre production lines.
  • Ensure effective control of critical quality parameters, including IV, MFI, denier, tenacity, elongation, shrinkage and dyeability.
  • Support operations in resolving spinning breaks, gels, filtration issues and quality deviations.
  • Drive yield improvement, waste reduction and effective reprocessing strategies.

Operations Support and Reliability

  • Provide day-to-day technical support to ensure stable and efficient plant performance.
  • Lead root-cause analyses of major process upsets, quality issues and customer complaints.
  • Optimize energy consumption, utilities and raw-material usage across polymer and yarn operations.
  • Support maintenance and reliability teams in resolving process-related equipment issues involving extruders, spin packs, winders and quenching systems.

Projects, Technology and Expansion

  • Provide technical leadership for greenfield, brownfield, debottlenecking and capacity-expansion projects.
  • Review and approve process designs, PFDs, P\&IDs, mass and energy balances, and equipment specifications.
  • Evaluate and select technology licensors, spinning lines, extruders and OEMs.
  • Coordinate with EPC contractors, machinery suppliers and consultants to ensure design and execution excellence.

Process Safety, Quality and Compliance

  • Ensure effective implementation of Process Safety Management across polymer and yarn operations.
  • Lead HAZOP, HAZID, Management of Change and process-risk assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable environmental, safety and product-quality standards.
  • Strengthen customer-focused quality systems and promote a culture of continuous improvement.

Digitalization and Continuous Improvement

  • Drive the implementation of advanced process control, digital monitoring and Industry 4.0 solutions across polymerization, spinning and utilities.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs for yield, quality, energy intensity and downtime reduction.
  • Benchmark operations against global best-in-class polymer, yarn and utility operations.
  • Promote innovation in recycled polymers, sustainability and circular-economy initiatives.

KEY INTERFACES

  • Operations, Maintenance, Utilities, Quality, Projects and Commercial teams
  • Technology licensors, OEMs, EPC contractors and raw-material suppliers
  • Customers and technical-service teams, where required

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering; an MBA or relevant master’s degree will be preferred.
  • 12–15 years of relevant experience in technical or process engineering roles within the petrochemical industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large teams and complex, multi-line manufacturing operations.
  • Strong exposure to petrochemical plant operations, manufacturing processes and utility-efficiency improvement.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

  • Petrochemical process simulation, optimization and troubleshooting
  • Utilities technology and energy-efficiency improvement
  • Inspection and reliability techniques
  • Quality systems and customer-complaint resolution
  • EPC project execution and technology licensing
  • Working knowledge of applicable international standards, including API, ASME, ISO and OSHA
