General Manager

We're seeking an experienced and driven

General Manager

to lead highway maintenance and infrastructure operations across a large-scale contract in British Columbia.

This is a leadership opportunity for a professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys building high-performing teams, and has a strong background in operations, safety, and stakeholder management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee day-to-day highway maintenance operations, including repairs, inspections, winter operations, and emergency response activities.
  • Develop and execute operational strategies that align with contractual requirements and business objectives.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and support to supervisors, staff, and contractors.
  • Manage budgets, forecasting, resource allocation, and operational performance.
  • Foster strong relationships with government representatives, suppliers, community stakeholders, and industry partners.
  • Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support the adoption of technology and innovation.
  • Monitor quality assurance processes to ensure service delivery meets or exceeds required standards.
  • Represent the organization in meetings, operational discussions, and stakeholder engagements.

Qualifications

  • Minimum

7 years of progressive experience

in highway maintenance, construction, or infrastructure operations.

  • Minimum

5 years of leadership or management experience

.

  • Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience working within a unionized environment is considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of highway maintenance standards, specifications, and contractual obligations.
  • Demonstrated experience managing large teams, multiple stakeholders, budgets, and operational priorities.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management/reporting software.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence and willingness to travel as required.
