Job Identification
Electrical Engineer
Mission Statement Main Responsibilities
Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and ensure high reliability of the complete plant electrical distribution network, including 11 kV HT incoming supply, switchgear, VCBs, protection relays, CTs/PTs, busbars, RMUs and HT cables.
Manage 11 kV/415 V power transformers, including protection systems, temperature monitoring, oil testing, insulation resistance, earthing, preventive maintenance and condition monitoring.
Maintain LT panels, PCCs, MCCs, ACBs, MCCBs, contactors, overload relays, distribution boards and automatic changeover systems.
Ensure reliable operation and maintenance of 415 V three-phase and 230 V single-phase systems, including industrial power distribution and plant lighting.
Troubleshoot and maintain three-phase induction motors, brake motors, servo motors, VFDs, soft starters and motor protection systems.
Maintain power-factor correction/APFC panels, capacitor banks, harmonic filters and power-quality systems, monitoring PF, harmonics, voltage imbalance, transients and electrical loading.
Operate and maintain diesel generators, ATS/AMF panels, synchronization and load-sharing systems, ensuring reliable emergency power availability.
Maintain UPS systems, batteries, battery chargers, inverters and critical AC/DC backup supplies, including battery health and backup-time testing.
Maintain control power supplies including 230 VAC, 110 VAC, 48 VDC and 24 VDC, along with SMPS, control transformers, relays, contactors and interface modules.
Troubleshoot industrial electrical and basic automation systems, including PLC I/O, safety relays, sensors, encoders, proximity/photoelectric switches and industrial communication interfaces.
Execute preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance of electrical equipment to maximize plant availability, MTBF and equipment reliability while reducing MTTR.
Perform electrical testing, including insulation resistance, winding resistance, contact resistance, earth resistance, thermography and transformer/oil diagnostic testing.
Maintain and periodically test earthing, lightning protection, electrical interlocks, emergency systems and protection-relay coordination.Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards, LOTO, permit-to-work requirements and safe isolation procedures, particularly for HT/LT systems.
Analyze electrical breakdowns through RCA and corrective/preventive actions, eliminating repetitive failures and maintaining equipment history.
Monitor electrical energy consumption, maximum demand and load distribution, identifying energy-saving and power-system optimization opportunities.
Develop and execute PM plans, maintenance checklists, shutdown activities and annual maintenance schedules for all electrical assets.
Maintain critical electrical spares and technical documentation, including SLDs, panel drawings, cable schedules, protection settings, equipment manuals and maintenance records.
Coordinate with utilities, contractors, OEMs and vendors for electrical maintenance, testing, modifications, projects and statutory inspections.
Support installation, commissioning and modification of new machinery, ensuring correct cable sizing, protection selection, load calculations, earthing and electrical safety compliance.
