Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join a highly critical engineering team responsible for supporting and evolving large-scale, mission-critical platforms. This role is ideal for someone with strong hands-on infrastructure expertise, a production-first mindset, and experience operating highly available enterprise environments.
The successful candidate will play a key role in building, automating, maintaining, and supporting complex on-premises container platforms while driving DevOps best practices across the software delivery lifecycle.
As this role supports critical production systems, there will occasionally be a requirement to support planned out-of-hours production releases and maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, maintain and support enterprise DevOps platforms and infrastructure.
- Manage and optimise on-premises Kubernetes/OpenShift environments.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
- Build and improve CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and automation tooling.
- Support highly available Linux production environments.
- Drive automation across infrastructure provisioning, deployment and operational processes.
- Lead production deployments and environment promotions from pre-production into production.
- Monitor platform health and performance using enterprise observability tools.
- Lead and coordinate major incident response, troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- Collaborate with engineering, platform and infrastructure teams to improve reliability, scalability and operational efficiency.
- Mentor engineers and promote DevOps best practices across delivery teams.
- Contribute to operational governance, documentation, change management and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills \& Experience
DevOps \& Platform Engineering
- Strong commercial experience with
on-premises Kubernetes and/or OpenShift
- Extensive DevOps engineering experience
- Jenkins CI/CD pipeline development and automation
- Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
- Strong Linux systems administration
- Production support within high-availability environments
- Experience supporting 24/7 critical systems and participating in on-call/production support
