The Company plays an important role in supporting Pakistan’s energy and food security and is listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange. Under its Vision 2030 , MariEnergies is pursuing sustainable growth and diversification through expansion into E\&P services, critical minerals, technology and other strategic opportunities.
At MariEnergies, people remain central to sustainable growth and operational excellence. The Company fosters an inclusive, performance-driven and people-focused culture anchored in its core values of
Integrity, Unity and Excellence
. MariEnergies places strong emphasis on technical excellence, continuous learning, capability development, leadership readiness and meaningful career progression, while encouraging collaboration and diverse perspectives across the organization.
Position Summary:
The Chief Reservoir Engineer serves as the Company’s senior technical authority in reservoir engineering and principal advisor to the Director RDM. The role provides discipline leadership through governance, assurance and expert judgement, ensuring that reservoir studies, development concepts, forecasts, reserves assumptions and investment recommendations are technically robust, integrated across functions and aligned with corporate objectives. Rather than executing asset work directly, the position influences outcomes by setting technical standards, challenging and assuring critical decisions, integrating subsurface perspectives with development, operations and commercial inputs, and advising senior stakeholders on complex reservoir risks, uncertainties and value opportunities. As the peak technical career role, the Chief Reservoir Engineer leads through authority, credibility and advisory influence, not through line management or routine delivery ownership.
Responsibilities:
- Set reservoir engineering standards, best practices, workflows and technical assurance processes across operated and non-operated assets.
- Lead and independently review reservoir appraisal, field development planning, depletion strategy, reservoir management, surveillance, production forecasting and performance evaluation to maximize long-term asset value.
- Provide expert oversight of reservoir characterization, dynamic simulation, history matching, uncertainty analysis, material balance, pressure transient analysis, rate/production analysis, decline curve analysis, PVT/SCAL, reserves/resources and field development studies.
- Direct reservoir fluid characterization and PVT workflows, including sampling strategy, laboratory study design, quality control of PVT data, black-oil and compositional/EOS model selection, and reconciliation of laboratory results with field-observed behaviour.
- Assure reservoir simulation and forecasting workflows, including model build, history matching, uncertainty ranges, production profiles, recovery factor assessment and development scenario evaluation.
- Ensure technical integrity in reserves/resources reporting, PRMS compliance, regulatory submissions, planning assumptions, production forecasts, audits, JV governance and investment recommendations.
- Review and assure reservoir engineering inputs to well planning, completion strategy, production optimization, artificial lift selection, workovers, stimulation, IOR/EOR screening and integrated asset plans.
- Advise Director RDM and senior management on key business decisions by assessing reservoir risks, opportunities, uncertainties, recovery options and technical assumptions.
- Develop reservoir engineering capability across the organization through competency frameworks, mentoring, technical coaching, peer reviews, lessons learned, knowledge transfer and succession planning for critical technical roles.
- Drive technology adoption, digital reservoir management, integrated asset modelling, data analytics, AI-enabled workflows, knowledge management, mentoring, competency development and external technical collaboration.
Qualification:
- Degree in Reservoir engineering discipline, Postgraduate/ PhD is an advantage.
Experience:
- At least 15 years of progressive reservoir engineering experience, including a minimum of 5 years of international experience across appraisal, development, field management, and production optimization, with exposure to diverse reservoir types, fields, and assets.
- Proven technical leadership in reservoir studies, reserves, forecasting, uncertainty analysis, technology management, asset management and strategic development decisions.
- Experience in regulatory reporting, technical assurance, JV management and mentoring.
Competencies and Skills:
- Expert reservoir engineering capability across classical and advanced reservoir analysis, including material balance, decline curve analysis, rate transient analysis, pressure transient analysis, well-test interpretation, reservoir surveillance, production diagnostics and reservoir performance evaluation.
- Advanced capability in dynamic reservoir simulation, model construction, history matching, uncertainty analysis, production forecasting, development scenario evaluation, recovery factor assessment and reserves/resources estimation in accordance with PRMS principles.
- Strong understanding of reservoir characterization and integration of subsurface data, including geological models, petrophysics, seismic interpretation inputs, core analysis, SCAL, PVT data, fluid properties, contacts, pressure regimes and production behaviour.
- Ability to define and assure depletion strategies, reservoir management plans, surveillance programmes, well and reservoir reviews, production optimization opportunities, infill drilling options, workover candidates, stimulation potential and IOR/EOR screening.
- Proven technical assurance capability for field development plans, reserves submissions, regulatory reporting, investment proposals, production forecasts, reservoir risk assessments, uncertainty ranges, opportunity maturation and strategic asset evaluations.
- Competence in integrated asset modelling and cross-discipline integration with geoscience, petrophysics, drilling, production technology, facilities, operations, commercial and planning teams to ensure technically sound and economically robust development decisions.
- Working knowledge of industry-standard reservoir engineering software, digital reservoir management tools, data analytics, automation, dashboards and AI-enabled workflows for surveillance, forecasting, optimization and decision support.
- Demonstrates technical authority, sound judgement, analytical rigour, integrity, strategic thinking, collaboration, clear communication, innovation, mentoring capability and delivery focus in resolving complex reservoir and asset management challenges.
