Accounts Bridge, a reputable Australian\-based CPA firm, is seeking a diligent General Accountant to join their Islamabad office full\-time. This role is essential for supporting a diverse portfolio of Australian clients by handling comprehensive accounting, taxation, and compliance activities. The position operates during Australian business hours, requiring commitment from 5:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The General Accountant will work closely with accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, and QuickBooks Online to maintain rigorous financial accuracy and regulatory compliance aligned with Australian standards.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in financial reporting, tax compliance, and general ledger management complemented by experience in bank reconciliations and accounting software proficiency. This individual will have completed CA articles or equivalent ACCA qualifications and holds a bachelors degree in accounting or finance. Attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a thorough understanding of tax regulations and audits specific to Australia are crucial. **Responsibilities**
* Prepare and review Income Tax Returns (ITR), Business Activity Statements (BAS), Instalment Activity Statements (IAS), Goods and Services Tax (GST), and Pay As You Go (PAYG) reports accurately and timely.
* Perform bank reconciliations on a regular basis to ensure consistency between bank statements and general ledger accounts.
* Maintain accurate and up\-to\-date general ledger records reflecting all financial transactions.
* Prepare detailed financial statements for various client entities including individuals, sole traders, companies, and trusts.
* Assist in the preparation and submission of Australian income tax returns adhering to relevant laws and deadlines.
* Communicate professionally with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) as required to resolve tax issues and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
* Utilize and manage accounting software platforms such as Xero, MYOB, and QuickBooks Online to streamline accounting processes and enhance reporting accuracy.
* Ensure all accounting practices comply with Australian accounting standards and taxation regulations including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
* Support budgeting activities and financial planning to aid clients in managing their financial goals effectively.
* Handle accounts receivable and payable to maintain healthy cash flow and client financial standing.
* Conduct periodic audits and reviews to ensure bookkeeping accuracy and identify discrepancies or areas for improvement.
* Review and apply taxation policies and keep updated on changes in Australian tax law and regulations to provide timely advice and ensure compliance.
* Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while managing client financial information and sensitive data.
* Demonstrate strong analytical and problem\-solving skills to resolve accounting discrepancies and improve financial processes.
* Organize workload efficiently to meet deadlines and manage multiple client accounts without compromising quality.
* Collaborate with external advisors, auditors, and stakeholders as necessary to support comprehensive accounting and advisory services.
