Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 5 nurse within the Endoscopy Unit at RAH. As part of the multidisciplinary team, the Post Holder will provide specialist care to Endoscopy patients and those attending for day case surgical procedures. The successful candidate will be required to work in both Day Surgery and Endoscopy as these teams work closely together to provide patient\-centred care. Applicants should be enthusiastic, motivated, and interested in working in the endoscopy environment. Previous experience in this area is desirable but not essential. We offer a professional development programme and excellent team support. The successful candidates are required to demonstrate flexibility by working within a service which runs over a 5\-day week. Furthermore, the successful candidates will be expected, where necessary, to engage in multi\-site working within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde in order to meet the needs of the service. **Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:** * Royal Alexandra Hospital * Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:30 * Fixed\-term contract for 9 months **Key Responsibilities** * Deliver highquality, personcentred care by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating evidencebased nursing care for patients undergoing endoscopic procedures, with sensitivity to individual needs, culture and lifestyle * Provide safe and effective clinical practice within NMC, NHS Greater Glasgow \& Clyde, and Health \& Safety legislation, ensuring patient safety, dignity, and wellbeing throughout admission, procedure, recovery and discharge * Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team, demonstrating flexibility to rotate across endoscopy rooms, theatre and recovery areas, and supporting service delivery across the wider Day Surgery Unit as required * Communicate with empathy and professionalism, offering reassurance, information and emotional support to patients and relatives, while maintaining effective verbal and written communication with colleagues and maintaining accurate clinical records * Demonstrate leadership and accountability by supervising and supporting registered and nonregistered staff, contributing to team coordination, resource management, and upholding standards of nursing practice * Commit to continuous professional development, contributing to education, audit and practice development, supporting learners, participating in appraisal, and actively maintaining and developing clinical competence **Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:** * Registered Adult Nurse (RN) with current NMC registration, able to meet all professional, legal and ethical requirements of the role * Sound clinical knowledge and skills appropriate to Band 5 practice, with the ability to deliver safe, effective and personcentred care within an endoscopy or day surgery environment * Previous experience in endoscopy or day surgery is desirable, with an understanding of caring for patients undergoing procedural or invasive investigations * Knowledge of NHS, Health \& Safety, infection prevention and clinical governance standards, with the ability to work in line with national and local policies and procedures * Commitment to ongoing professional development, including participation in appraisal, education, audit and practice development activities * Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating flexibility, professionalism and the capacity to support colleagues and learners in a busy clinical setting **What We Offer** We offer a wide range of supportive policies designed to enhance your employee journey, including a comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme, Cycle to Work Scheme, bursary scheme and extensive learning and development opportunities.
