Job Description

We are currently looking for enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Band 6 Staff Nurses to join the Private Patient Medical Day Unit (PPMDU)at the Royal Marsden in Chelsea. You will need to be a 1st level registered nurse, Demonstrable previous Oncology experience and experience in the administration of IV medications and chemotherapy is essential. Intravenous cannulation and venepuncture are desirable, however full training will be given. In addition you will possess excellent communication skills, be reliable, enthusiastic and an effective team member committed to providing the highest level of service for our patients.

Responsibilities The band 6 registered nurse for Private Patients’ (PP) MDU is an exciting role, which enables the delivery of a variety of skills within the outpatient department, Granard House (GH) MDU and Markus Private Care Centre (PCC), and Infusion (Supportive Therapy) Unit. The main roles and responsibilities include:

  • To coordinate and supervise a shift, communicating effectively with members of a multidisciplinary team to deliver high quality, evidence-led care to patients.
  • To exercise clinical judgment and decision making about patient needs in terms of long-term goals or plans.
  • To plan, document, deliver and evaluate evidence-based nursing care for patients in a responsible and efficient way.
  • To assume personal accountability for nursing care delivered to a patient in accordance with the NMC code of conduct.
