About Fulfillment IQ (FIQ):

Fulfillment IQ is a supply chain engineering and transformation company that helps brands, retailers, and 3PLs design, build, and scale high-performance logistics operations. We work at the intersection of strategy, operations, and technology to solve complex, real-world problems across warehouse design, automation, order management, transportation, and end-to-end supply chain execution. Our teams combine deep domain expertise with strong technical capability, delivering outcomes through consulting, systems implementation, and proprietary platforms that accelerate time-to-value and reduce delivery risk.

Role Overview:

Fulfillment IQ is looking for a dynamic Senior Engineering Manager with 8+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 4 years in engineering leadership, people management, or technical delivery leadership. This role combines people leadership, technical execution, delivery ownership, architecture contribution, and hands-on engineering across full-stack development, cloud infrastructure, databases, DevOps, and automation-first quality practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Engineering Leadership \& People Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop engineering teams across backend, frontend, cloud, DevOps, and automation domains.
  • Own performance feedback, coaching, career development, and team engagement.
  • Build a high-accountability culture focused on ownership, quality, and continuous improvement.

AI-Assisted Engineering Delivery:

  • Champion AI-assisted practices across development, testing, documentation, and code review.
  • Drive adoption of tools such as GitHub Copilot, Azure AI, ChatGPT Enterprise, or Cursor.
  • Measure AI productivity improvements while protecting quality and engineering discipline.

Delivery Ownership \& Execution Governance:

  • Own delivery commitments across projects, clients, and delivery squads.
  • Define technical delivery plans, milestones, estimates, and execution timelines.
  • Proactively identify risks, blockers, and escalation points; own status reporting and remediation.

Architecture, Design \& Technical Governance:

  • Contribute to solution architecture, technical design, and implementation planning.
  • Lead design reviews, code reviews, and production readiness reviews.
  • Support modernization across microservices, cloud-native, APIs, and event-driven patterns.

Hands-On Technical Contribution:

  • Design and maintain scalable, secure applications using C#.NET, Angular, React, and Python.
  • Optimize SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB for performance and scalability.
  • Implement and improve CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps Pipelines.

Cloud, DevOps \& Platform Engineering:

  • Drive adoption of modern DevOps practices across build, test, deployment, and release management.
  • Ensure cloud infrastructure is secure, scalable, observable, and cost-conscious.
  • Strengthen observability using logging, monitoring, alerting, and incident response practices.

Quality Engineering \& Automation Partnership:

  • Partner with QA teams to embed quality earlier in the development lifecycle.
  • Drive reduction in defect leakage, rework, and production incidents.
  • Ensure code quality gates are integrated into CI/CD pipelines.

Customer Engagement \& Consulting Delivery:

  • Act as a customer-facing engineering leader for escalations and delivery risks.
  • Translate client needs into technical execution plans with Product, Delivery, and Architecture.
  • Manage escalations with urgency, ownership, and structured remediation.

Team Operating Model \& Squad Enablement:

  • Lead engineering execution within Fulfillment IQ's squad-based delivery model.
  • Align engineers to the right squads based on project needs, skills, and priorities.
  • Reduce handoff friction by embedding engineering early in discovery and backlog refinement.

Engineering Metrics, Reporting \& Continuous Improvement:

  • Track and improve metrics including velocity, defect rate, and deployment frequency.
  • Establish dashboards for delivery health, quality trends, and engineering capacity.
  • Drive improvement through retrospectives, root-cause analysis, and process refinement.

Required Skills \& Experience:

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience.
  • 4+ years in engineering leadership or technical delivery leadership.
  • Strong proficiency in C#.NET Core, Angular, React, and Python.
  • Strong database experience with SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
  • Experience with Azure Infrastructure, Google Cloud Platform, and Azure DevOps Pipelines.
  • Knowledge of AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot, Azure AI, or Cursor.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with microservices, Docker, Kubernetes, and API-first design.
  • Background in IT consulting, supply chain, fulfillment, or WMS environments.
  • Azure certifications: Solutions Architect Expert, DevOps Engineer Expert, or Developer Associate.

Education:

Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent practical experience may be considered.

What Success Looks Like in the First 90 Days:

30 Days: Understand FIQ's platforms, delivery model, and active engagements. Build relationships and assess team capabilities and bottlenecks.

60 Days: Stabilize delivery, contribute to architecture and code reviews, improve CI/CD practices, and mentor team members.

90 Days: Deliver measurable improvements in velocity, quality, and reliability. Lead key project deliveries and contribute to the technical roadmap.

Key Performance Indicators:

  • On-time delivery of milestones and project commitments.
  • Code quality: defect rates, rework, and production issues.
  • Team productivity, velocity, and sprint completion.
  • CI/CD efficiency: deployment frequency and lead time for changes.
  • Customer satisfaction and escalation resolution effectiveness.
  • Team engagement and retention.
