Senior DevOps Engineer

Vision Talent's client is a growing Fintech organization, they are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join their growing team. This is not a typical DevOps role, as our client is seeking someone who can go beyond pipelines and deployments. Think of this as a DevOps expert embedded within the business, driving real impact. This position is highly hands\-on (around 80%) and focused on assessing existing infrastructure, identifying gaps, and building a stronger, more scalable foundation. The ideal candidate will come in as a DevOps consultant, take ownership of the environment, and help modernize systems and practices. Key focus areas: * Deep Terraform \+ AWS expertise * Strong Infrastructure\-as\-Code mindset Experience with: * Production systems ownership * Cost optimization (e.g., reducing tooling spend) * Security frameworks (Zero Trust preferred) * Comfortable running: * Proof of concepts (POCs) * Experiments and validation Strategic \+ Execution Mindset * Can **zoom out (system\-wide view)** AND dive deep * Identifies inefficiencies and proposes improvements * Builds structured, prioritized execution plans * Aligns infra decisions with business goals Leadership \& Behavior * Ownership mentality (“figure it out” mindset) * Strong attention to detail * Mentors and uplifts others * Comfortable in **small, ambiguous environments** Must haves: * 7–10 years in IT infrastructure/cloud engineering * 5\+ years owning production AWS environments * Deep AWS architecture expertise (multi\-account, security stack, networking) * Advanced Terraform experience in complex environments * Strong CI/CD architecture experience (GitLab preferred) * Strong Kubernetes (EKS) or ECS experience * Professional scripting experience (Python, Go, or Bash) * Experience working in PCI\-compliant or regulated fintech/crypto environments * Strong understanding of SLAs and building systems around them * Leadership capability — able to mentor and influence engineering standards * AWS Solutions Architect – Professional (SAP\-C02\) * Hands\-on Datadog experience * Experience leading FinOps programs * Experience with Cloudflare Zero Trust \& WARP * Experience with HashiCorp Vault * Experience with Snowflake/dbt infrastructure This is a permanent opportunity, and a hybrid work environment with 2 days/week required on site in Etobicoke.
