Senior Backend Engineer

**About Oplane:** Oplane builds AI\-powered security tooling for modern software teams. Our platform analyzes code changes, performs automated threat modeling, and helps organizations build secure software faster through direct integration with Git workflows. We use agentic coding with Claude Code and Cursor as a core part of engineering at Oplane. This is not optional and not a side experiment. We expect engineers to use these tools in their daily work. We also expect software to be written in a way that works well for agentic development. That means code should be clear, explicit, well\-structured, and easy for both humans and AI agents to understand, navigate, and modify safely. **About the role:** We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help build the core of our platform. You will work on the threat modeling engine, backend services, MCP tools, and the service layer that powers both our AI agents and our web application. This is an on\-site role based in Malmö, Sweden. We are not hiring remotely for this position. **What you will do:** * Build and improve backend services in Python * Develop the threat modeling engine and related service layer * Build MCP tools and internal agent\-facing functionality * Design and maintain APIs and async workflows * Improve performance, reliability, and security across the backend stack * Use Claude Code and Cursor as part of your daily development workflow * Review, refine, and take ownership of AI\-generated code before it reaches production * Help shape how we structure software so agents can work effectively in the codebase **What we are looking for:** * 10\+ years of software development experience * Strong backend engineering skills * Experience building APIs and service\-oriented systems * Strong understanding of system design, maintainability, and reliability * Strong technical judgment and ability to work independently * You want to work with agentic coding in Claude Code and Cursor as part of your daily workflow * You are comfortable letting AI produce a first draft and then refining, validating, and owning the result * You write software that is easy for both humans and AI agents to understand and evolve **Nice to have:** * Experience with Python in production environments * Security experience such as application security, threat modeling, secure development, or pentesting * FastAPI * Async Python services * GraphQL * Experience building developer tools or platform services **Location:** Malmö, Sweden \- on\-site only This role is based on\-site in Malmö, Sweden.
