Role Overview
We are looking for a
Senior Backend Engineer with experience of 6+ years
to build and scale backend systems that support safe and engaging audio experiences for younger audiences. You will design resilient services, ensure strong data integrity, and develop scalable platform capabilities with a focus on safety, privacy, and policy compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable backend and data systems across multiple devices and markets
- Develop modular, reusable platform services with strong observability and reliability
- Build and maintain systems that enforce safety, privacy, and policy guardrails at scale
- Define clear APIs, data flows, and system interfaces across the platform
- Collaborate with mobile, web, product, and design teams to deliver robust solutions
- Ensure high-quality code through testing, monitoring (SLIs/SLOs), and best engineering practices
- Contribute to system design discussions and promote operational excellence
- Support a collaborative, feedback-driven engineering culture
Required Skills \& Experience
- Strong experience with
Java (Java 8+)
for backend development
- Solid understanding of system design, data structures, and algorithms
- Experience building scalable, reliable, and maintainable backend systems
- Proficiency in
SQL
for analysis and troubleshooting
- Strong focus on
code quality, testing
, and operational reliability
- Ability to work collaboratively and solve complex problems pragmatically
Nice to Have
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Knowledge of Scala, Protocol Buffers, Beam, or Scio
- Exposure to data pipelines or data engineering workflows
- Experience with load testing and performance optimization
- Familiarity with
mobile platforms
(iOS/Android)
- Experience working with large-scale, user-facing platforms
