Role Purpose As our Senior Accounting working towards becoming Second\-in\-Command, you will act as the operational and leadership partner to the Founder. You will oversee day\-to\-day delivery, support the team, ensure quality across all client work, and help build the systems and structure that will allow Reign Accounting to scale. This is a rare chance to step into a senior leadership role early, with a clear path to future growth as the practice expands. **Job Description:** How the Role Evolves as We Grow **Phase 1: Hands\-On Leadership (Now, with a salary guide of £34,000 to £38,000\)** Lead workflow, deadlines, and quality control Review technical work across accounts, VAT, tax, and management reporting Support and mentor junior team members Handle client escalations and complex queries Improve processes and internal systems **Phase 2: Operational Ownership (6–24 months, with a salary guide of £39,000 to £45,000\)** Manage a growing team Own KPIs: turnaround times, WIP, capacity, client satisfaction Lead performance reviews, training, and development Drive automation and efficiency Support recruitment and onboarding **Phase 3: Strategic Leadership (Longer\-term, with a salary guide of £46,000 to £50,000\+)** Lead service delivery and client experience Contribute to pricing, service design, and growth strategy Support the Principal in high\-level decision\-making Potential future Director pathway **Key Responsibilities** **Client Relationship \& Advisory** * Act as a senior point of contact for client queries and escalations * Lead monthly, quarterly and annual client review meetings * Identify opportunities for improvement, advisory, and additional services * Build strong, long\-term client relationships aligned with Reign’s values **Technical Review \& Quality Assurance** * Review year\-end accounts, corporation tax returns, VAT returns, and management accounts * Ensure compliance with accounting standards, HMRC requirements, and Companies House * Provide variance analysis, forecasting insights, and risk identification * Support complex tax queries, including CGT, IHT, and HMRC case calls **Team Leadership \& Development** * Mentor and support junior and trainee accountants * Lead performance management, return\-to\-work discussions, and holiday planning * Support recruitment and onboarding as the team grows * Promote a positive, accountable, supportive culture **Operational Oversight** * Manage workflow, deadlines, and capacity planning * Maintain and improve internal processes and SOPs * Support the Principal with operational decision\-making * Ensure GDPR, AML, and compliance standards are upheld **Success Measures** * High client satisfaction and retention * Strong team performance and development * Improved turnaround times and reduced rework * Smooth, predictable operational delivery * Contribution to growth and service expansion **Who You Are** ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent) Minimum 5 years’ practice experience Strong technical knowledge across accounts, VAT, and tax Experience managing a client portfolio Confident reviewing work and guiding junior staff Excellent communicator with strong leadership qualities Calm, solutions\-focused, and commercially aware Ambitious and excited by the idea of growing with a scaling practice
