Position Summary:  The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing core accounting functions, supporting accurate and timely financial reporting, and driving process discipline across the organization. This role will play a critical part in month-end close, project and Percentage of Completion (POC) accounting, account reconciliations, ERP utilization, and internal controls within a fast-paced private equity-backed critical infrastructure services business. The Senior Accountant will work cross-functionally with operations, project management, service, and leadership teams to ensure financial accuracy, job profitability visibility, and scalable accounting processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting \& Close:

Support the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes. Help to prepare timely, accurate, and comprehensive financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow). Support the development of management reporting, KPI tracking, lender reporting, and ad hoc financial analysis required in a private equity-backed operating environment.

  • Project \& Percentage of Completion Accounting:

Maintain and monitor project accounting schedules, including Percentage of Completion (POC) revenue recognition calculations, job cost tracking, contract asset/liability analysis, change orders, and project margin reporting in accordance with GAAP.

  • Reconciliation \& Ledger Management:

Maintain the general ledger and reconcile complex accounts, including bank accounts, accounts payable/receivable, and sub-ledgers.

  • ERP \& Process Discipline:

Assist in developing, documenting, and maintaining accounting policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and internal control processes across multiple operating locations.

  • Analysis \& Budgeting:

Analyze financial data and trends to support strategic decision-making, including variance analysis (budget vs. actual). Assist with budget preparation and revenue forecasting.

  • Compliance \& Audit:

Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and local, state, and federal regulations. Prepare necessary documentation for external and internal audits.

  • Team Leadership \& Mentorship:

Supervise, train, and mentor junior accountants and accounting assistants.

  • Process Improvement:

Identify opportunities to improve, streamline, or automate accounting processes and internal controls. Collaborate with project managers, service operations, procurement, and branch personnel to ensure accurate job costing, inventory tracking, revenue recognition, and expense coding.

  • Tax Preparation:

Prepare and file sales \& use tax returns and assist with tax audits.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within construction, industrial services, field services, critical infrastructure, engineering, or project-based environments. Preferred experience:

o  Public accounting

o  Percentage of Completion (POC) accounting

o  Project/job costing environments

o  Multi-location operations

o  Private equity-backed companies

o  ERP implementation or optimization initiatives

Technical Skills:

o  Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

o  Strong hands-on experience with ERP systems, preferably NetSuite, including general ledger, project accounting, purchasing, job costing, and reporting functionality.

·       Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of GAAP.

Soft Skills:

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Compensation \& Benefits:

Salary range: $80,000 – $120,000, depending on experience and qualifications
