**Teacher of Science** **MPS/UPS (dependent On Experience)** **Start date: September 2026** **Closing date: 15th May 2026 (noon)** Applications from both full\-time and part\-time candidates will be considered. Bitterne Park School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher of Science to join our high\-performing and supportive Science department. This is an exciting opportunity to teach in a well\-resourced department within a large, successful secondary school with a thriving sixth form. You will play a key role in ensuring students achieve excellent outcomes and develop a genuine curiosity about the world around them. **The role will involve:** * Planning and delivering engaging, high\-quality Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and Key Stage 5, where appropriate) * Creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports all learners * Assessing, monitoring and tracking student progress, using this to inform teaching and interventions * Contributing to the ongoing development of the Science curriculum and department * Supporting the wider life of the school, including enrichment opportunities and extracurricular activities **We are looking for someone who:** * Is a passionate and knowledgeable Science teacher (Biology, Chemistry or Physics specialism welcomed) * Has high expectations of themselves and their students * Is committed to inclusive practice and ensuring all students can succeed * Works collaboratively and contributes positively to a strong team culture * Is reflective and driven to continually improve their practice **In return, we offer:** * A supportive and collaborative Science department with a strong track record of success * Excellent professional development opportunities, including for ECTs and aspiring leaders * A positive and ambitious school culture where staff wellbeing is valued * The opportunity to work with motivated students in a thriving school community This is a fantastic opportunity to join a school that is committed to excellence, innovation and the development of both its students and staff. **Requirements** We are looking for someone who can demonstrate: * Essential + A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., QTS or equivalent) + Strong subject knowledge in science and the ability to teach confidently across Key Stages 3 and 4 + The ability to plan and deliver high\-quality, engaging lessons that support and challenge all learners + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues + Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage workload effectively in a busy school environment + A commitment to inclusive practice, safeguarding, and the welfare of young people + A reflective and proactive approach to professional development * Desirable + Experience teaching Science at Key Stage 5 or Key Stage 2 + Experience working within a secondary school environment + Willingness to contribute to extra\-curricular activities, enrichment, or wider school initiatives + An interest in curriculum development, assessment practice, or innovation in pedagogy **Safeguarding and Equal Opportunities** Bitterne Park School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
