Job Description

This position of General Manager provides an opportunity for an individual to join a dynamic, growth-oriented hotel corporation in the Ontario area. This company owns and operates a large four star luxury resort and is part of a major hotel-branded chain.

The General Manager should have a proven track record and interest in promoting revenue growth and profitability. In addition, the applicant should have excellent and proven knowledge of the Canadian marketplace. He/she should be able to adapt to the style of management that focuses on running profitable operations while setting the highest standards possible within a given environment. The management style also reflects values of honesty and integrity in all business related activities.

The ideal General Manager should have what we term a “hospitality personality," personal characteristics that not only make his guests welcome but also inspires all resort staff. He/she is a person who communicates equally well both verbally and in a written format. Our client is seeking an individual who lives a well-balanced life and is a contributor to the local community. The person’s values are founded in honesty, integrity, hard work, loyalty, and commitment.

This individual will work closely with current senior management to implement overall high-performance standards and to maximize customer satisfaction and retention. You will be marketing-savvy with particular strengths in customer relations, coupled with excellent knowledge of all areas of the resort management, rooms division, and major food and beverage operations.

You will be responsible for directing, coordinating, and overseeing the overall operational activities of all departments within the resort and for ensuring that the various business units operate in line with the group’s mission statement and meet their fiscal and qualitative objectives. Although the primary focus is to position this resort, improve occupancy, and generate higher revenues and profits, this candidate should look for the opportunity within the resort to assume greater responsibilities on a corporate level.

The successful candidate will be totally responsible for meeting or improving upon all hotel budget targets, product and labour cost controls, supplies and services cost control and revenues. He/she must have the ability to apply creativity in guest accommodation packages. The individual must possess an innate understanding of the guest, anticipate the customer’s needs, take appropriate action to address those needs, and strive to “wow” the guest at every opportunity.
