Job Description

A confidential, established regional law firm is seeking a Senior Associate or Counsel-level Labor and Employment attorney to support a busy management-side practice in New York. This is a long-term growth hire for an attorney who enjoys broad employer-side counseling and dispute work, values mentorship and direct client exposure, and is interested in a clearly defined path toward non-equity and potentially equity partnership

THE ROLE

  • Provide day-to-day advice and counsel to employers on Labor and Employment compliance and risk
  • Handle FMLA, ADA, ADEA, and accommodation issues
  • Manage wage and hour matters, including litigation support as needed
  • Draft and negotiate severance and related employment agreements
  • Conduct and support workplace and internal investigations
  • Defend employment litigation and agency matters
  • Advise on traditional labor matters, including collective bargaining
  • Handle or support matters before the NLRB and PERB
  • Deliver training and practical guidance for managers and HR teams

LOCATION, SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION

Location:

New York (Albany area preferred); open to strong candidates based in New York City or Long Island

Schedule :

Hybrid, in office 3 days per week

Compensation:

Base salary range: $140,000 to $200,000

REQUIREMENTS

  • 3 to 8 years of substantive management-side Labor and Employment experience
  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the New York Bar (or eligibility for prompt admission)
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage matters with minimal oversight
  • Strong legal research and writing skills, plus effective counseling and advocacy
  • Experience handling investigations and or employment litigation
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and communicate directly with clients
  • Interest in long-term practice growth, including partnership potential

PREFERRED BACKGROUND

  • Experience with workplace investigations, wage and hour litigation, collective bargaining, and traditional labor work
  • Proximity to the Albany region (or a workable plan for the hybrid schedule)
  • Business development interest or portable relationships

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • Billable hours target: 1,800
