**Role Title: Mining Lawyer**
**Location: Mumbai (On\-site)**

1. Minimum Experience required – 15 years of post\-qualification experience
2. Mandatory qualification – LLB
3. Mandatory requirement \- Handling litigation and regulatory affairs pertaining to Mining (Iron, ore, coal, metal and major minerals)
**Job Description**
**Litigation**
1. Effective handling of varied types of litigation, more specifically arising out of
**mines specifically Iron Ore, Coal, limestone, copper etc**
. Exposure before various forum, including but not limited to Supreme Court, High Court(s), Ministry of Mines, Ministry of Coal, Mines Tribunal, District and Sub Divisional Court etc.
2. Advise business on regulatory issues under the MMDR Act and Rules made thereunder and in respect of various statutory clearances pertaining to the mineral block such as environment clearances, forest clearances, approval of mining plan etc.
3. Coordination with external counsels / law firms for briefing and strategizing resolution of regulatory and litigation issues;
4. Coordination with internal stakeholders and business teams for ascertaining facts and for understanding key issues and research on subject matter of the issue involved;
5. Review and advise from legal perspective to protect the organisation’s interest, the tender documents pertaining to auction of mineral blocks
6. Land Acquisition \& Due Diligence for mines – includes managing land acquisition processes and advise on mining law–related issues
7. Proficient in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and agreements
8. Preparation of required documentation / pleadings, review and finalisation of pleadings in a timely manner to defend the interest of the organisation before courts;
9. Interaction with business team to ascertain factual background pertaining to issues involved in existing or prospective litigation pertaining to mines, Environment \& Forest Clearance/other Statutory Clearances;
10. Maintaining updated records of litigations including data base of lawyers along\-with agreed schedule of fees
11. Updating the online litigation management tool and maintenance of legal / litigation MIS
**Regulatory compliance liasioning**
1. Liaise with State Authorities pan\-India
2. Oversee statutory and regulatory compliance for mining operations and greenfield projects
3. Liaise with key central and state authorities including the Ministry of Mines, Indian Bureau of Mines, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Central Pollution Control Board and State Pollution Control Boards, Directorate General of Mines Safety, State Mining Departments, National Green Tribunal, and local/district authorities for regulatory approvals, compliance, and dispute resolution.
4. Secure and manage key regulatory approvals including mining leases, environmental and forest clearances, consent to establish/operate, mining plan approvals, DGMS permissions, explosives licences, land acquisition approvals, and other applicable environmental and statutory permits in coordination with authorities such as the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Indian Bureau of Mines, Central Pollution Control Board, and Directorate General of Mines Safety.
