In support of our homebuilding operations, Habitat Greater Ottawa operates a retail home improvement store called Habitat ReStore, which sells donated home furnishings, appliances, and renovation materials, with all proceeds helping us build more homes for local families.

**The Role**

The Manager, People \& Culture works closely with the Director of Operations and supports other leaders within the organization to develop, enhance and execute HR/People programs related to engagement and retention, talent acquisition, workforce planning, leadership and development, total rewards, volunteer management and HR/People systems.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Manager, People \& Culture is responsible for leading Habitat Greater Ottawa’s People and Culture function. They will foster a positive, high\-performance culture while inspiring and driving growth and productivity.
Please note this is a part\-time role working 3 days per week, and the annual salary will be prorated accordingly. The salary band for this role is between $70,000\.00 and $77,000\.00 per annum based on experience.
**Key Responsibilities**
As the successful candidate you will:
* Develop, in conjunction with the leadership team, a human resources plan that supports the growth and aligns with the direction of the organization.
* Guide and support the leadership team in creating and fostering a positive employee experience that results in a committed and capable workforce and norms that reflect the culture and values and establish cultural expectations.
* Provide advice to the leadership team in making decisions in areas of change management, performance, disciplinary action and terminations, employee coaching, and conflict resolution.
* Ensure the proactive compliance with HR laws, regulations and requirements and provide advice and guidance to managers and employees in their application.
* While not responsible for payroll, work closely with the Finance team on any pay adjustments, benefits and others forms of compensation.
* Provide advice and guidance to people managers on employee relations matters including recruitment, performance management, progressive discipline, workplace accommodations, etc.
* Develop internal communications to employees to support employee engagement and internal messaging.
* Support managers in the recruitment of new talent including assistance with the development of job descriptions, job posting and interview process.
* Develop and manage on\-boarding processes to ensure the effective integration of new employees.
* Manage the day\-to\-day operations of the administration and design of group benefit, wellness programs, leave administration in compliance with applicable provincial laws.
* Ensure all HR/People policies, programs and practices are reviewed and reflect the culture, values, goals and plans of the organization.
* Manage the organization health and safety program and provide advice and guidance to the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
* Overall management of the organization’s volunteer program and the supervision of the Volunteer Coordinator.
* Assist the leadership team in the annual review, preparation and administration of the organization's total rewards and compensation strategy.
* Conduct job analysis and review compensation in alignment with the organization’s compensation philosophy.
* Maintain the HRIS systems that meet organizational and employee needs.
* Implement effective employee feedback mechanisms, such as engagement surveys or exit interviews.
* Compile, analyse and monitor people metrics such as turnover and exit interviews, and identify opportunities for improvement.
* Develop and monitor an annual budget that includes all Human Resources/People services.
**Knowledge and Skills Required**
* Undergraduate degree with a concentration in Human Resources, Business, Legal or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* A minimum of five (5\) years of progressive experience in human resources.
* CHRP or CHRL designation.
* A solid understanding of the elements that contribute to an effective workplace culture.
* Professional, personable, and diplomatic.
* Solid background in employee relations and performance management.
* Enjoys working in a fast\-paced and results\-oriented environment.
* Effective, clear, and precise communication skills \- written, verbal and presentations in English.
* Strong coaching, mentoring and facilitation skills.
* Strong knowledge of employment legislation and HR Best Practices.
* Strong client service attitude along with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships both internally and externally.
* Excellent skills in Microsoft Office Suite products: Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint; and strong knowledge of HRIS systems.
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a team or independently with minimal supervision.
* Ability to maintain a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends, and access to a vehicle.
* French language proficiency would be an asset.
* Prior experience in a not\-for\-profit organization would be an asset.
**Working Conditions**
* The successful candidate is expected to work/live in Ottawa and/or the surrounding area.
* Due to the nature of this role, the incumbent must be available to work onsite at 3 Iber Road. Parking is available at no cost. Due to the nature of the organization, it can be expected at times to travel to the office, ReStores, and our build site.
