Job Description
Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Linux System Engineer role based in Lahore. The Linux System Engineer will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining Linux servers and related infrastructure to ensure high availability, performance, and security. Daily tasks include monitoring system health, managing user accounts and permissions, applying patches and updates, and automating routine operations using scripting. The role involves diagnosing and resolving system and network issues, optimizing server and application performance, and supporting development and product teams with environment setup and deployment. The engineer will also contribute to infrastructure documentation, backup and recovery procedures, and continuous improvement of operational workflows.
Qualifications
- Strong Linux System Administration and general System Administration skills, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of Linux-based environments.
- Proficiency in Troubleshooting at the OS, application, and network levels to quickly identify root causes and implement effective fixes.
- Hands-on Scripting skills (e.g., Bash, Python, or similar) to automate routine tasks, deployments, and monitoring activities.
- Experience working with Infrastructure components such as virtualization platforms, networking, storage, and security tools.
- Familiarity with configuration management or orchestration tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or similar) is an advantage.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, version control (e.g., Git), and DevOps practices is preferred.
- Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or similar) is beneficial.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, document technical work clearly, and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
