Legal Counsel - Litigation

EI’s mandate is to manage legal risk in line with the Bank’s appetite (as defined by the Board, EXCO and senior management) and to provide legal advice \& support to the Bank. **About the Role** The purpose of this role is to provide legal advice, support and to manage legal risk specifically for the EIB’s dispute activities (including FRR, WB and retail, commercial and regulatory affairs). **Responsibilities** * Advising members of management as legal counsel. * Supporting EIB’s Legal’s Litigation function to deliver high quality and focused legal services that protect the EIB’s interests and manage legal exposure within legal risk appetite as defined and understood by the Bank. * Anticipating, identifying, and managing legal risks, and initiating corrective action where necessary, in order to protect the interests of the EIB. * Managing relationships with external counsel and ensuring that external counsel service and costs are always appropriate, and that external counsel deliver effective advice. * Managing the junior team members comprised within EIB’s Legal’s litigation team. * Being involved in the provision of legal training or by coordination with external counsel to internal colleagues on core areas of legal risk, as well as emerging areas of legal risk. * Demonstrating emerging skill levels in communication, influencing, commercial awareness, professional excellence and self\-development, operational excellence and efficiency and developing awareness and management of legal risk. * Support with arbitration \& litigation matters within Emirates Islamic locally and regionally. * Support on any restructuring, refinancing settlement agreements. * Managing transactions and projects with limited supervision. * Participation in the development and maintenance of a strong culture of service excellence. **Skills \& Qualifications** * LLB/LLM holder and/or post graduate Diploma in Legal practice. * Certified \& qualified Solicitor/Lawyer * Ability to distil and communicate complex advice in an understandable manner. * Oral \& Written communication * 3 to 7 years in Legal department management with atleast 3 years in litigation department (either in\-house or private practice). Legal management experience, ideally managing litigation matters, knowledge of banking and financial services industry with experience in various fields.
