Zikr Tech is looking for a seasoned Java/Kotlin Software Engineer to join our backend development team. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable features for our IIoT-based web application and associated APIs, ensuring high performance, reliability, and clean architecture.
🔧 Key Responsibilities
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions for backend systems (Polling/Engine-based architecture)
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies (grooming, planning, estimation, standups)
- Design, develop, and maintain Kotlin-based applications and APIs
- Debug, analyze, and resolve production issues and defects
- Write unit and integration tests to ensure code quality
- Develop clean, scalable, testable, and well-documented code
- Support QA and other developers during testing cycles
- Maintain coding standards and contribute to release management
- Continuously improve system performance and reliability
- Provide regular updates and technical feedback to the team
🧠 Required Skills \& Experience
- 5+ years of experience in Java/Kotlin development (JDK 11+)
- Strong experience working with cloud-based applications
- Solid understanding of concurrency, async programming, and multithreading
- Hands-on experience with Ktor or similar web/network frameworks
- Experience designing RESTful APIs with OpenAPI/Swagger documentation
- Strong knowledge of JDBC and ORM/tools like JetBrains Exposed
- Advanced SQL skills with PostgreSQL or MySQL (query optimization included)
- Strong experience with Docker \& Kubernetes
- Experience working with distributed systems and network protocols
- Familiarity with Agile development environments
- Strong communication skills in English
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools with critical evaluation mindset
- Experience with time-series databases (InfluxDB, TimescaleDB)
- Experience with Gradle/Maven build tools
- Strong Git workflows (branching, PRs, merging)
- Jira or similar project management tools
- Active GitHub/Stack Overflow profile with contributions (preferred)

💰 Compensation: PKR 450,000 per month
