Java Backend Engineer

With teams in Dubai and London, we place elite talent into high\-impact, mission\-critical environments worldwide. **About the Role** : On behalf of an advanced technology client in Abu Dhabi, we are hiring an experienced Java Software Engineer to join a high\-performance application software team. This role focuses on the design and development of backend software for next\-generation cellular and secure communication systems, operating in a complex, distributed, and performance\-critical environment. **Responsibilities** : * Research, design, and develop cutting\-edge cellular communication solutions using Kotlin, Java, Akka, Gradle, GitLab, and Docker. * Design and implement backend systems based on Domain\-Driven Design (DDD), Reactive architectures, and actor\-based systems. * Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, including unit, integration, and end\-to\-end (E2E) testing. * Build scalable, message\-based, and high\-performance backend services. * Collaborate closely with software engineers, system architects, and product managers to deliver robust technical solutions. * Contribute to technological and architectural decisions. * Work within multi\-disciplinary Agile teams, adopting Agile methodologies, tools, and mindset. **Qualifications** : * BSc or equivalent in Computer Science or a related field * 10\+ years of experience in Java and Kotlin software development **Required Skills** : * Strong experience with functional programming, message\-based communication, Reactive programming, DDD, and TDD * Ability to read technical documentation and develop tools based on specifications * Self\-directed profile with strong planning and execution capabilities * Team player with experience working in Agile environments * Excellent analytical, problem\-solving, and debugging skills **Preferred Skills** : * Strong passion for software development and technology * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Flexible attitude with the ability to perform under pressure * Upper\-intermediate level of spoken and written English **Location \& Package:** * **Abu Dhabi, UAE** (on\-site) * Competitive **tax\-free salary \+ benefits** **Security Clearance:** * This role supports **sensitive programs** * **Eligibility to obtain security clearance is required**
