Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Infection Control Nurse role based at Amara Hospital in Tirupati. The Infection Control Nurse is responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring infection prevention and control programs across clinical and non-clinical areas. Daily responsibilities include conducting surveillance of hospital-acquired infections, auditing infection control practices, and ensuring adherence to hand hygiene, isolation precautions, and sterilization protocols. The role involves educating and training healthcare professionals and support staff on infection control standards, preparing reports and documentation for internal review and regulatory compliance, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams during outbreaks or incident investigations. The Infection Control Nurse will also participate in policy development, support quality improvement initiatives, and provide evidence-based recommendations to enhance patient and staff safety.

Qualifications

  • Strong expertise in Infection Control and Infection prevention practices, including surveillance, reporting, and implementation of control measures.
  • Professional Nursing background with valid registration, and experience in clinical Nursing care within hospital or acute care settings.
  • Working knowledge of Medicine and Infectious Diseases as they relate to hospital-acquired infections, antimicrobial stewardship, and patient safety.
  • Familiarity with healthcare standards, accreditation requirements, and regulatory guidelines related to infection prevention and control.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (or equivalent); specialized certification in Infection Control (e.g., CIC or equivalent) is an advantage.
  • Strong observation, documentation, and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and present clear, actionable reports.
  • Effective communication, training, and interpersonal skills to educate diverse staff groups and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment, prioritize tasks, and maintain a high level of professionalism and ethical conduct.
