Job Description
Robert Half is partnering with an established international financial institution’s New York office to hire seeking a Senior Human Resources Generalist/HR Manager to oversee the full lifecycle of Human Resources support for its local employee population. This position sits within a lean HR structure, partnering closely with leadership and legal while serving as the primary HR resource for the New York office.
This role is best suited for someone who enjoys operating independently, managing compliance\-driven HR responsibilities, and supporting a professional workforce in a regulated setting.
**Responsibilities**
* Serve as the primary HR partner to managers and employees across the NYC office
* Provide guidance on employee relations matters, workplace concerns, and performance topics
* Support the design and administration of compensation, benefits programs, and evaluation processes
* Act in a fiduciary capacity for health and retirement benefit plans
* Partner with senior leadership and legal counsel on investigations and sensitive workplace matters
* Maintain alignment with federal, state, and local employment regulations and support updates to HR policies and handbook materials
* Coordinate hiring activity for the branch, including agency engagement, interview logistics, screening steps, and onboarding
* Oversee compliance\-related training requirements and workplace policy adherence
* Support disciplinary processes when necessary in coordination with leadership and counsel
* Assist with implementation and improvement of HR infrastructure as systems evolve
* Provide guidance to junior HR support staff as applicable
**Qualifications**
* 5–15 years of progressive HR Generalist experience
* Bachelor’s degree required
* Strong familiarity with U.S. employment law frameworks, including ERISA
* Experience working in regulated industries (financial services, banking, insurance, legal, healthcare, or similar) strongly preferred
* Comfortable operating in a small HR team with broad ownership
* Cross\-cultural workplace exposure is a plus
* Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
