Job Description
**Overview**
We are partnering with a well\-established, privately held U.S. medical device manufacturer with over three decades of operation and a strong international presence. The company is a recognized leader in its niche within the broader orthotics and prosthetics industry, known for its proprietary material technology and a significant intellectual property portfolio.
This is a sole\-charge HR Manager role sitting within a hands\-on manufacturing environment of approximately 125 employees. As the company's dedicated HR resource, you will cover all functional areas including compliance, payroll, employee relations, and safety. Working closely with senior leadership, you will play a key role in bringing structure, consistency, and people\-focused thinking to a growing organization.
The company has a notably stable, long\-tenured workforce and a culture that encourages employees to shape their roles around their strengths — making this a genuine opportunity to build something lasting rather than simply maintain the status quo.
The ideal candidate combines genuine warmth with the discipline to uphold confidentiality and regulatory standards without exception. If you enjoy variety, thrive in environments where no two days look the same, and take pride in making a workplace function well for the people in it, this role is for you.
**Key Responsibilities**
* Serve as the single point of contact for all HR matters across a manufacturing workforce of approximately 125 employees
* Conduct a comprehensive review and remediation of existing HR documentation, compliance records, and regulatory filings as a first\-priority initiative
* Manage end\-to\-end recruitment and onboarding processes, including coordination with external agencies and management of work authorization and visa\-related requirements
* Administer and oversee all payroll functions, bonus calculations, and compensation plans — ensuring accuracy across weekly, monthly, and annual pay cycles
* Maintain full OSHA compliance, including incident reporting, safety training, on\-site safety meetings, and regulatory certifications
* Manage all aspects of employee benefits administration, including the company's retirement savings plan
* Complete government compliance reporting, maintain and update the employee handbook, and ensure adherence to all applicable employment laws
* Handle employee relations matters — including conflict resolution, disciplinary processes, and sensitive interpersonal issues — with professionalism and sound judgment
* Maintain accurate employee records, job descriptions, performance reviews, and department documentation
* Partner with management on workforce development, training initiatives, and employee engagement
* Serve as Training Process Owner within the company's quality management system (ISO/FDA framework)
* Participate in annual inventory and support operational projects as required
**Requirements**
**Required Qualifications**
* Minimum of 3 years experience in a generalist or manager\-level HR role within a manufacturing, production, or similarly regulated environment
* Strong working knowledge of U.S. employment law, OSHA regulations, and HR compliance requirements
* Demonstrated experience managing payroll, bonus structures, and compensation administration
* Experience handling employee relations issues, including documentation, disciplinary processes, and conflict resolution
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
* Exceptional attention to detail and a track record of maintaining accurate, up\-to\-date HR records
* Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with absolute discretion
* Comfortable working independently in a solo HR function — self\-directed, resourceful, and proactive
* Strong interpersonal skills — able to build trust with employees at all levels while maintaining professional boundaries
* Must be able to meet background check requirements applicable to the role
**Preferred Qualifications**
* Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
* SPHR or SHRM\-SCP certification
* Prior experience supporting employees through visa and work authorization processes
* Familiarity with ISO or FDA quality management systems and maintaining training records within those frameworks
* Experience with workers' compensation claims and OSHA 300 log reporting
* Background in a medical device, life sciences, or healthcare\-adjacent manufacturing environment
