Job Description
About CultureMonkey
CultureMonkey is building HR tech for companies that take people seriously. We help organisations listen to their people better through employee engagement, lifecycle, and pulse surveys, action planning, and people analytics. But the real thing we are building is not just software. We are helping companies build workplaces where people feel heard, understood, and valued.
We are a fast-growing B2B SaaS company working with mid-market and enterprise customers across geographies. We obsess over our customers' experience, and we believe that starts with how we treat our own people internally. So, as we scale, we are looking for someone who can bring the same care, rigor, and people-first thinking to CultureMonkey that we help our customers bring to their own organisations.
About the Role
We are looking for a mature, hands-on HR Manager who can build our people function from the ground up. This is a founding HR role for a fast-growing startup that now needs someone who can bring structure, consistency, and care to how we hire, manage, and grow our people.
You will own the full employee journey from the moment a role opens up, through hiring, onboarding, performance, growth, and eventually off-boarding. There is no existing playbook waiting for you. You will be the one writing it, while also running the day-to-day people operations that keep a growing startup functioning smoothly.
This is not a role for someone who wants to maintain a fully built HR machine. This is a role for someone who enjoys building that machine, setting up policies and processes from scratch, and then making them work in the real, fast-moving world of a startup. You should be comfortable making decisions with incomplete information, moving quickly without compromising on fairness or compliance, and treating every employee interaction as seriously as we expect our customers to treat theirs.
What You Will Do
- Recruitment \& Talent Acquisition: Own end-to-end hiring across the organization, from defining role requirements with hiring managers to sourcing, screening, interviewing, offer rollout, and closing.
- Hiring Process \& Candidate Experience: Build and continuously improve our hiring process and candidate experience, including job descriptions, interview structures, evaluation criteria, and offer frameworks.
- Employee Lifecycle Management: Own the complete employee lifecycle, including onboarding, induction, confirmation, promotions, and exits.
- Performance Management: Design and roll out a structured performance management framework, including goal-setting, check-ins, appraisal cycles, and feedback mechanisms suited to a fast-moving startup.
- HR Policies \& Process Design: Set up HR policies and processes from scratch, including leave, attendance, code of conduct, POSH compliance, and other statutory and organizational policies.
- Employee Relations: Act as a trusted point of contact for employees on people-related matters, handling concerns, conflicts, and sensitive conversations with discretion and empathy.
- Engagement \& Culture: Drive engagement, culture, and retention initiatives that reflect the same people-first philosophy that CultureMonkey helps its own customers build.
- HR Operations \& Compliance: Manage HR operations and compliance, including documentation, statutory requirements, payroll inputs, and audits, working closely with Finance where required.
- People Strategy \& Org Planning: Partner with leadership to build a scalable people strategy, including org design, compensation benchmarking, and workforce planning as the company grows.
- HR Systems \& People Analytics: Maintain HR systems, employee records, and dashboards that provide leadership with clear visibility into people metrics and trends.
What We Are Looking For
- 5-7 years of total experience in Human Resources, with solid exposure to end-to-end recruitment, employee lifecycle management, and performance management.
- Prior experience in a startup or fast-growing company, ideally where you helped set up HR processes and policies rather than just operating within an existing structure.
- Someone who is equally comfortable being hands-on with day-to-day HR operations and thinking strategically about how the people function should scale.
- Strong understanding of statutory compliance and HR best practices, with the judgment to apply them sensibly in a startup context.
- A clear communicator who can hold a difficult conversation with empathy, and just as easily present a people plan to leadership with clarity and confidence.
- Strong ownership mindset. You do not wait for a process to exist before doing the right thing. You build the process while doing the right thing.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and fast-changing priorities, while still bringing consistency, fairness, and structure to how people are treated.
- A genuine interest in people and culture, not just HR administration. You should care about why someone joins, why they stay, and why they sometimes leave.
You Will Love This Role If
- You enjoy building things from scratch rather than maintaining what already exists.
- You can hold structure and empathy at the same time, even when the two seem to pull in different directions.
- You want your work to shape how an entire company experiences its workplace.
- You like working in a place where ideas matter more than titles.
- You want to see the direct impact of your work, quickly and visibly.
Why Join CultureMonkey
- You will join at a stage where your decisions on policy, process, and culture will shape the company for years to come.
- You will work directly with a fast-moving founding team that values sharp thinking, ownership, and honesty over hierarchy.
- You will be part of a team that believes people grow when they are trusted, heard, and given room to contribute.
- We practice what we build for customers: people-first experiences, high ownership, empathy, strong technology, flexible work, learning, fun, and a real sense of belonging.
- Things move fast here. Decisions happen in days, not quarters. Good ideas travel quickly. And when you do good work, you will see its impact almost immediately.
The Kind of Person We Are Hoping To Meet
- Someone who can bring calm and structure to a fast-moving, sometimes chaotic environment.
- Someone who can sit with an employee going through a difficult moment, and also sit with a founder thinking about org design, with equal seriousness.
- Someone who can tell leadership, “Here is the better way to do this,” with both confidence and kindness.
- Someone who wants to build, not just maintain.
- Someone who believes HR is not just about policies and processes. It is about making people feel, “this company really sees me.”
If that sounds like you, we would love to meet you.
