Healthcare Counsel (Contract) – Corporate Practice of Medicine (CPOM) \& Commercial Contracts

Contract Assignment (Approximately 1 Month)
A healthcare services organization is seeking an experienced Healthcare Counsel to support its legal team on a short-term contract assignment of approximately one month. This role will focus primarily on advising on
Corporate Practice of Medicine (CPOM)
matters, while also providing support on a range of commercial contracting issues.
The successful candidate will work closely with internal legal and business stakeholders to deliver practical, business-focused legal advice, helping to navigate complex healthcare regulatory requirements and support ongoing operational initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise on Corporate Practice of Medicine (CPOM) matters, including physician practice structures, management services organizations (MSOs), management services agreements (MSAs), and multi-state regulatory considerations.
- Provide practical legal guidance on healthcare regulatory issues impacting the organization's operations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including customer, vendor, professional services, and other operational contracts.
- Partner with business leaders and cross-functional teams to identify legal risks and develop commercially sound solutions.
- Support the legal team on healthcare regulatory, transactional, and commercial matters as needed throughout the engagement.
- Collaborate effectively with legal, compliance, operational, and executive stakeholders to meet project deadlines.
Qualifications:
- J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- Approximately
3–10 years
of legal experience gained in-house and/or at a law firm with a strong healthcare regulatory practice.
- Demonstrated experience advising on
Corporate Practice of Medicine (CPOM)
, including physician practice structures, MSOs, MSAs, and related state healthcare regulatory requirements.
- Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements.
- Experience supporting healthcare providers, physician groups, MSOs, rehabilitation providers, home health organizations, or other healthcare services businesses is strongly preferred.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to provide practical, commercially focused legal advice.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver high-quality work within a fast-paced project environment.
