Job Description
MatchBox Consulting Group is recruiting for a Geotechnical Engineer (E.I.T.) to join a growing geotechnical consulting team supporting land development and municipal infrastructure projects across the Greater Vancouver Area.
This is a unique opportunity for an early-career engineer to work closely with experienced geotechnical professionals in a collaborative and supportive environment. The successful candidate will gain exposure to both field and office-based engineering work, contributing to geotechnical investigations, design analysis, construction support, and technical reporting.
This position is fully remote within the Greater Vancouver Area, with monthly in-person team meetings and regular site visits throughout the region.
Responsibilities
- Assist with planning and executing geotechnical site investigations, including drilling programs and field reviews
- Perform engineering analyses related to foundations, retaining structures, slope stability, and earthworks
- Prepare geotechnical reports, technical memoranda, and supporting documentation
- Support construction activities through field inspections, QA/QC reviews, and site supervision
- Coordinate with senior engineers, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams
- Assist with projects involving shoring systems, anchors, excavation support, and infrastructure upgrades
- Participate in site visits and monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with project requirements
- Support engineering assessments and recommendations for land development and municipal infrastructure projects
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline
- Registered or eligible for registration as an Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC)
- Minimum 2+ years of relevant geotechnical or civil engineering experience
- Strong technical writing, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable access to a vehicle for travel within the Greater Vancouver Area
Assets
- Experience with geotechnical software such as LPile or slope stability analysis programs
- Experience supporting land development and/or municipal infrastructure projects
- Exposure to retaining wall design, foundation engineering, earthworks, or excavation support systems
- Field experience related to construction monitoring or geotechnical investigations
