This role is accountable for leading a safe, high‑quality, fiscally responsible operation while aligning the Village to Schlegel Villages’ vision, mission, values, and strategic priorities. The General Manager creates an environment where team members feel valued, connected, supported, and inspired to bring their best selves to work — every day. **Key Responsibilities** **Living First \& Culture Leadership** * Champion Schlegel Villages’ social model of living, promoting an ongoing commitment to “Living First” for residents. * Translate aspiration statements into actionable operational plans that build momentum, celebrate success, and inspire collaboration across all roles. * Foster a Village culture rooted in caring relationships, belonging, inclusion, and shared purpose. **People \& Leadership Excellence** * Lead and inspire a highly engaged Village team through serving leadership, strengths‑based practice, and collaboration. * Builds leadership capacity and ensures succession readiness through the intentional internal development and mentorship of future leaders **Operational \& Financial Stewardship** * Lead Village profitability and long‑term sustainability through the annual budgeting process, effective use of resources, and strategic investment decisions. * Support the Village team in achieving and maintaining occupancy targets. * Lead the development and execution of strategic capital plans, ensuring that investments in infrastructure, facilities, and resources align with the Village's long\-term goals and operational needs. **Quality, Safety, Technology \& Compliance** * Lead daily operations, including managing planned and unplanned events, emergencies, and complex situations requiring immediate attention. * Ensure compliance with all legislative and regulatory requirements, including the Fixing Long‑Term Care Act and/or Retirement Home Act. * Provide leadership for the implementation of the Village Quality Framework and use outcomes to drive continuous improvement. * Champions the adoption of technology and innovation to enhance resident experiences, team efficiency, and operational effectiveness * Leads and supports implementation of organizational and system\-wide initiatives, ensuring sustainable adoption and alignment with strategic priorities **Resident, Customer, And Team Member Experience** * Promote a consistently positive customer experience aligned with our Customer Experience Credo: Know Me, Be Present, Walk in My Shoes, Earn Trust, Follow Through * Build community partnerships to support the community hub model * Engages residents and families as partners in decision\-making * Advances diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging by fostering a culture where all team members, residents, and families feel valued and respected **Education \& Experience** * Post‑secondary degree (minimum 3 years) or diploma (minimum 2 years) in health or social services. * Minimum 3 years of leadership experience in health or social services, or completion of an approved Long‑Term Care Home Administration program (if from another sector). * Proven experience in operational and fiscal management within a regulated environment. **Knowledge, Skills \& Abilities** The ideal candidate will demonstrate: * A deep commitment to serving leadership — leading with humility, empathy, and care. * Strengths‑based leadership that builds trust, compassion, stability, and hope. * Ability to build authentic, respectful relationships and act with integrity at all times. * Strong communication skills, with the ability to share vision, cascade information, and inspire others. * Collaborative leadership style that encourages shared accountability and teamwork. * Learning agility and a commitment to continuous growth — both personally and in others. * Ability to foster a sense of community, belonging, and connection. * Strategic thinking and sound business acumen to anticipate challenges and adapt effectively. * Strong change‑leadership capabilities, including removing barriers and celebrating success. * Effective conflict resolution and decision‑making skills. * Knowledge of HR practices, collective agreements, and employment legislation. * Alignment with Schlegel Villages’ values: Caring relationships, passionate and persistent, positive can‑do attitude, creative and innovative, hardworking and hands‑on, genuine and humble. **Level of Responsibility** This role holds decision‑making accountability for the entire Village.
