Job Description

General Manager

Location: Oxfordshire / Cotswolds, UK

Salary Range: £65,000 – £85,000 + Bonus and Benefits

This is a rare opportunity to lead the relaunch of a 129-bedroom upper-scale lifestyle hotel in one of the UK's most desirable hospitality destinations. As General Manager, you will play a pivotal role in introducing an internationally recognised lifestyle hotel brand to the UK market, shaping its identity, culture, and guest experience from the very beginning.

The hotel will be neighbourhood-led, locally connected, and rich in character, combining an engaging guest experience with a strong food and beverage offering. This role presents the opportunity to make a lasting impact on a landmark hospitality project, supported by an experienced ownership and advisory team committed to long-term success.

What you'll do

You will take full operational responsibility for the hotel, leading all aspects of performance across rooms, food and beverage, guest experience, people, and commercial operations. As the face of the property, you will establish a culture that reflects the brand's personality while ensuring consistently exceptional service standards.

Working closely with ownership and key stakeholders, you will oversee the successful relaunch of the hotel, bringing the new brand proposition to life through service delivery, community engagement, and local partnerships. You will create an environment where both guests and employees feel connected to the hotel's unique identity and purpose.

You will build, develop, and inspire a high-performing team, fostering a culture where employee experience is recognised as a critical driver of guest satisfaction. Through strong leadership and clear direction, you will establish operational excellence across every department.

Alongside operational leadership, you will be responsible for commercial performance, including revenue growth, profitability, cost control, and overall business efficiency. You will identify opportunities to strengthen market positioning, enhance guest engagement, and drive long-term success.

What you'll need

  • Proven experience as a General Manager or senior hotel leader within an upper-scale, lifestyle, boutique, or full-service hotel environment.
  • Strong operational leadership across rooms, food and beverage, guest experience, and hotel operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, develop, and motivate high-performing hospitality teams.
  • Commercially astute with a strong understanding of revenue management, profitability, budgeting, and operational performance.
  • Experience leading businesses through change, ideally including hotel openings, relaunches, repositioning, or rebranding projects.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the confidence to engage owners, investors, asset managers, and brand partners.
  • Ability to act as a brand ambassador, creating memorable guest experiences through service, community engagement, and local partnerships.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and people management capabilities.

Desirable Experience

  • Hotel opening, pre-opening, or significant relaunch experience.
  • Experience working with an international lifestyle, boutique, or upper-scale hotel brand.
  • Previous involvement in brand conversion or repositioning projects.
  • Knowledge of the Oxfordshire, Oxford, or Cotswolds hospitality market.
  • Experience creating local partnerships, neighbourhood programming, and destination-led guest experiences.
  • Strong food and beverage expertise within hotels where the restaurant is a central component of the guest journey.
  • Experience operating within branded hospitality environments while maintaining a strong local identity.
