**General Manager \- Fitness Club**
**$90\-120k plus bonus**
**Joplin, MO**
Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced full\-time General Manager (GM) with a strong background in racquet sports and fitness operations to oversee the overall performance, programming, and success of our multi\-amenity state\-of\-the\-art fitness center. This position is available due to the promotion of the current General Manager, reflecting the strength of our leadership pipeline and continued organizational growth.
This role places particular emphasis on leading and expanding racquet sports and fitness offerings, including tennis, fitness, pickleball, and related programming, as a key driver of member engagement and revenue growth. The GM will serve as the senior leader and the driving force behind cultivating a culture of wellness, community engagement, and excellence. This position requires strategic vision, operational expertise, and deep familiarity with racquet sports and fitness programming, court management, and league development. The ideal candidate will leverage racquet sports as a cornerstone of the facility’s identity and growth strategy.
As the General Manager, you will oversee a diverse team of approximately 75 employees, providing leadership, structure, and development opportunities to ensure operational success and staff satisfaction. The GM will exemplify the company’s core values while building a vibrant, inclusive racquet sports and fitness community within the club.
**Responsibilities**
* Leadership and Facility Oversight
* Conduct daily walkthroughs with a focus on general fitness facility and racquet sports areas (courts, scheduling, equipment, cleanliness, and member usage).
* Lead and develop staff, including directors, coaches, and instructors, ensuring high\-quality programming and instruction.
* Foster a high\-performance culture centered on member experience, with racquet sports as a flagship offering.
* Lead by example, demonstrating professionalism, visibility on the floor, and active engagement with members.
* Racquet Sports Program Development and Growth
* Fitness Program Development and Growth
* Design, implement, and expand racquet sports programming, including leagues, tournaments, clinics, private instruction, and social events.
* Design, implement, and expand fitness programming, including leagues, tournaments, clinics, private instruction, and social events.
* Drive utilization of court space through strategic scheduling, peak/off\-peak optimization, and innovative programming.
* Build partnerships with local organizations, schools, and leagues to grow participation and community presence.
* Stay current on industry trends (e.g., pickleball growth) and integrate new offerings to maintain competitive positioning.
* Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement
* Monitor and analyze customer satisfaction and engagement metrics, with specific focus on racquet sports participation and retention.
* Implement process improvements across both general operations and racquet sports to enhance efficiency and member experience.
* Ensure court reservation systems, programming schedules, and member access are optimized and user\-friendly.
* Oversee all financial aspects of the center.
* Analyze key financial metrics such as labor costs, program profitability, and membership growth.
* Develop and execute strategies to increase ancillary revenue through racquet sports and fitness division programming.
* Recruit, onboard, and develop high\-performing staff.
* Conduct regular one\-on\-ones with department leaders, including racquet sports and fitness leadership, to drive accountability and growth.
* Build a pipeline of instructors and coaches, including certification pathways and mentorship opportunities.
* Implement succession planning across departments.
* Cultivate a strong racquet sports community that enhances overall member retention and satisfaction.
* Actively engage with members on the court and throughout the facility to gather feedback and build relationships.
* Promote a welcoming, inclusive environment for players of all skill levels.
* Master all club systems, including court scheduling platforms, CRM, POS, and marketing tools. (Club Automation)
* Ensure compliance with all regulations, as well as industry standards for racquet sports and fitness division safety and programming.
* Reporting and Communication
* Develop and deliver reports highlighting KPIs, including racquet sports participation, revenue, and retention metrics.
* Maintain clear communication channels across departments to ensure alignment and execution of strategic initiatives.

**Requirements**
* Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Sports Management, Health and Fitness, or related field, or equivalent experience.
* (Preferred) 10\+ years of racquet sports management experience, including oversight of programming, staff leadership, court operations, and revenue generation within a multi\-court or multi\-amenity facility.
* (Preferred) 10\+ years of fitness facility management experience, including oversight of fitness programming, staff, and operations within a multi\-amenity environment.
* Demonstrated experience managing racquet sports operations (tennis, pickleball, or similar), including programming, staff oversight, and revenue generation.
* Proven success in driving financial performance across both racquet sports and fitness revenue streams.
* Strong understanding of court scheduling systems, league organization, fitness programming, and instructional program development.
* Industry certifications (e.g., USPTA, PTR, pickleball certifications, and/or fitness\-related credentials) strongly preferred.
* Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills with the ability to lead diverse teams.
* Physically able to meet the demands of a fitness and racquet sports environment, including lifting up to 45 lbs. and extended periods of standing/walking.
* Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required by programming and events.
