Job Description
**Position Overview**
We are seeking a meticulous, tech\-savvy, and experienced
**Senior Accountant \& Systems Specialist**
to join our team. In this role, you will be the architect of our financial ecosystem. You will be responsible for the initial, proper setup of our accounting software, managing day\-to\-day accounting functions, tracking complex Cost of Goods Sold (COGS), and delivering accurate financial reports and statements.
The ideal candidate is a self\-starter who loves organizing financial data, understands inventory/cost accounting deeply, and knows how to configure accounting systems to run like clockwork.
**Key Responsibilities**
**1\. Accounting System Setup \& Optimization**
* Evaluate, select (if not already chosen), and properly configure our accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite) from scratch.
* Establish a robust, customized
**Chart of Accounts**
tailored to our specific industry.
* Integrate necessary third\-party applications (bank feeds, payroll, e\-commerce platforms, invoicing tools).
* Document system workflows and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for financial data entry.
**2\. Cost Accounting \& COGS Management**
* Accurately calculate, track, and manage
**Cost of Goods Sold (COGS)**
and inventory valuation.
* Establish accurate product costing models, factoring in direct materials, direct labor, and overhead allocations.
* Analyze variances between standard costs and actual costs to identify inefficiencies and improve profit margins.
**3\. Financial Reporting \& Statements**
* Prepare, analyze, and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement/P\&L, and Cash Flow Statement).
* Conduct month\-end and year\-end close processes efficiently and accurately.
* Provide management with actionable financial insights, variance analysis, and budget\-to\-actual reports.
**4\. General Accounting \& Compliance**
* Manage accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and general ledger reconciliations.
* Ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and comply with GAAP or IFRS standards.
* Oversee tax compliance, sales tax filing, and prepare documentation for external auditors or tax preparers.
**Required Skills \& Qualifications**
* **Education:**
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
* **Certification:**
CPA, CMA, or progress toward certification is a major plus.
* **Experience:**
4–6 years of progressive accounting experience, with a proven track record of
**setting up accounting systems**
from the ground up.
* **Cost Accounting Expertise:**
Solid understanding of inventory management and COGS calculations.
* **Technical Tech\-Stack Savvy:**
Advanced proficiency in modern accounting software (QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage, or ERPs like NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables).
* **Attention to Detail:**
An eagle eye for discrepancies and a passion for data integrity.
