Job Description

English Teaching Assistant | Hackney | September 2026 Start

A high-performing secondary school in Hackney is seeking an English Teaching Assistant to join from September 2026 on a full-time, long-term basis until the end of the academic year in July 2027 , with strong potential for extension thereafter. This opportunity is ideal for a high-achieving graduate with strong child-centred experience looking to gain meaningful secondary school experience supporting KS3–KS4 students through English and literacy intervention.

The school has developed a strong reputation for inclusion, academic progress and SEND provision, with a Progress 8 score above national averages and well-established intervention systems across core subjects. Leaders have invested heavily in targeted literacy support, enabling students with SEND and additional learning needs to access the curriculum successfully. English outcomes remain a particular strength, supported by structured teaching, reading intervention programmes and carefully sequenced literacy strategies across KS3 and KS4.
