English Teacher (Grade 7)

**Position Summary** REACH Academy Charter School is seeking an energetic, relationship\-driven, and highly motivated 7th Grade English Language Arts Teacher to join our middle school team. The ideal candidate is passionate about literacy instruction and committed to helping students grow as readers, writers, thinkers, and communicators. The 7th Grade ELA Teacher will deliver engaging, rigorous, and standards\-aligned instruction that prepares students for high school level coursework while fostering a classroom culture built on respect, accountability, and high expectations. This teacher will play a vital role in helping students strengthen critical thinking, analytical writing, vocabulary development, and reading comprehension skills. **Required Knowledge \& Skills** * Demonstrates a deep commitment to the mission and vision of REACH Academy Charter School, including academic excellence, character development, and student achievement. * Maintains a strong belief that every student can succeed regardless of background or challenges. * Strong content knowledge in middle school English Language Arts instruction. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues. * Creates an inclusive, engaging, and culturally responsive classroom environment that supports diverse learners. * Familiarity with New York State Next Generation English Language Arts Learning Standards. * Ability to differentiate instruction for students with varying academic needs, including English Language Learners and students with IEPs. * Skilled in classroom management and implementing consistent routines and expectations. * Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively. * Collaborative team player who contributes positively to school culture and professional learning communities. * Passionate about urban education and committed to serving Buffalo students and families. * Reflective practitioner who is open to feedback, coaching, and continuous growth. **Essential Duties \& Responsibilities** * Plan and deliver engaging, standards\-aligned English lessons for seventh grade students using whole group, small group, and individualized instruction. * Develop students' reading comprehension, literary analysis, argumentative writing, narrative writing, grammar, and vocabulary skills. * Foster student discussion, critical thinking, and collaborative learning experiences through meaningful texts and writing tasks. * Utilize data from formative and summative assessments to drive instruction and monitor student progress. * Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners and provide targeted academic support when needed. * Build a classroom culture rooted in high expectations, consistency, and positive relationships. * Integrate instructional technology and innovative teaching strategies to enhance student engagement and achievement. * Communicate regularly with families regarding academic progress, behavior, and student success. * Collaborate with colleagues, intervention staff, and administrators to support school\-wide initiatives and student growth. * Participate fully in professional development, instructional coaching, team meetings, and school events. * Submit lesson plans, student data, and required documentation in accordance with school expectations. * Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and strong attendance. * Carry out additional responsibilities assigned by school leadership. **Qualifications** **Required:** * Bachelor's Degree in English, Education, or a related field * New York State Teaching Certification in English Language Arts (Grades 5\-9 or 7\-12\) preferred, or actively working toward certification * Strong passion for teaching middle school students * Ability to establish strong relationships with diverse learners and families * Excellent collaboration, communication, and classroom management skills **Preferred** * Master's Degree in Education or related field * Previous middle school English teaching experience * Experience with culturally responsive teaching and trauma\-informed practices * Familiarity with instructional technology and blended learning strategies **Salary \& Benefits** Salary is based on REACH Academy Charter School salary step scale and verified years of teaching experience. Step 1 begins at $45,000 and Step 11 reaches $65,830\.
