JOB TITLE Emirati Talent - Legal Counsel | Majid Al Futtaim Lifestyle
Role Summary The Legal Counsel is responsible for providing comprehensive legal services across all business functions including managing contracts, disputes and advising on legal issues. The role also encompasses oversight of data privacy compliance, ensuring adherence to applicable laws and industry best practices.
ROLE PROFILE
- Review and negotiate Heads of Terms, franchise agreements, and commercial contracts to ensure favourable terms and risk mitigation.
- Draft and manage contracts (service, consultancy, supply, sponsorship, leases) ensuring compliance and alignment with business strategy.
- Provide legal advisory support across business units on commercial, regulatory, and intellectual property matters.
- Manage disputes and litigation with external counsel to protect company interests and minimize legal risks.
- Monitor legal and regulatory changes (franchising, labor, competition, consumer laws) and advise on business impact.
- Lead data privacy compliance, including implementation of policies, breach management, and adherence to GCC regulations.
- Strengthen governance frameworks and support audits, investigations, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct training and cross-functional collaboration to ensure compliance awareness across franchisees and internal stakeholders.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor of Law (LLB); privacy certifications (CIPM / CIPP/E) are an advantage. 3–5 years of experience as Legal Counsel, preferably with in-house exposure; retail experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of global and regional data privacy laws (GDPR, UAE PDPL, KSA PDPL).
- Hands-on experience in privacy compliance (minimum 1 year) or related fields.
- Familiarity with data protection tools and technologies (e.g., OneTrust,
- Securiti.AI, DLP, encryption, anonymization).
- Fluency in Arabic and English is mandatory.
