**About The Role**
We are seeking a highly skilled Principal DevOps Engineer to join our AI Infrastructure Engineering team within the Insights \& Intelligence (i2\) organization. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work remotely or in a hybrid setting supporting our Falls Church, VA office. As part of the i2 team, which is dedicated to transforming decision\-making processes through data, analytics, and AI, you will collaborate with cross\-functional teams including data scientists, software engineers, and infrastructure specialists. Your primary responsibility will be to design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and compliant AI infrastructure solutions that support Northrop Grumman's strategic AI and analytics initiatives. This role requires a proactive mindset, technical expertise, and the ability to adapt to rapidly evolving AI technology trends.
**Qualifications**
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or a Master’s degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience; or 9\+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
* At least 3 years of experience implementing back\-end infrastructure for Commercial Off\-The\-Shelf (COTS) or Software as a Service (SaaS) platforms.
* Minimum of 2 years working with cloud infrastructure and services, preferably AWS or Azure.
* Hands\-on experience with DevOps practices, including automation tools such as Ansible and ArgoCD, as well as CI/CD pipelines and configuration management.
* Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, PowerShell, or Bash.
* Experience managing Windows and Linux server environments.
* Basic knowledge of database technologies, including SQL and NoSQL, and familiarity with distributed computing systems.
* Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts to non\-technical stakeholders.
**Responsibilities**
* Design and develop scalable systems capable of handling increasing data volumes and computational demands for AI applications.
* Implement AI infrastructure that complies with relevant security standards and regulations, including necessary controls and hardening procedures.
* Monitor infrastructure performance and reliability, providing metrics and insights to identify areas for improvement.
* Stay abreast of advancements in AI technologies and infrastructure trends, evaluating their applicability to organizational needs.
* Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and functional teams to provide robust infrastructure support for new and existing systems.
* Automate deployment, configuration, and management processes using DevOps tools and practices.
* Ensure infrastructure security through vulnerability management, cyber hardening, and compliance procedures.
* Maintain and manage cloud\-based infrastructure, including container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes, using tools such as Helm.
* Participate in planning and executing infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and optimizations.
