About The Role We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic team in Toronto, ON. In this full-time position, you will play a crucial role in modernizing and automating our infrastructure to enhance reliability, scalability, and efficiency. You will collaborate closely with engineering, IT, and project stakeholders to support continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, infrastructure as code (IaC), and systems administration. Your contributions will directly impact our ability to deliver innovative transportation solutions and maintain high standards of operational excellence. Qualifications

  • Degree in Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or systems administration roles
  • Understanding of DevOps best practices including version control, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, monitoring, and observability
  • Proficiency with Git and GitLab, including branches, merge requests, and code reviews
  • Hands-on experience with Terraform, Ansible, and PowerShell, with a willingness to learn additional tools
  • Comfortable working with Linux command line and Windows Server environments, including Active Directory and DNS
  • Scripting skills in Bash and/or PowerShell for automation and administrative tasks
  • Basic networking knowledge such as TCP/IP, DNS, and HTTP protocols
  • Strong communication skills in English, with a collaborative and growth-oriented mindset
  • Experience with virtualization platforms like VMware; exposure to Suse Harvester is a plus
  • Basic understanding of containerization and Kubernetes is preferred
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Linux, cloud, Kubernetes) are advantageous but not mandatory

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) initiatives using Terraform, Ansible, and PowerShell under guidance from senior engineers
  • Maintain and enhance CI/CD pipelines in GitLab by writing, adjusting, and troubleshooting jobs, managing runners, and ensuring pipeline efficiency
  • Follow established branching strategies, manage repositories, perform merge requests, code reviews, and resolve conflicts
  • Assist in provisioning and configuration management across Linux and Windows environments to support operational needs
  • Support virtualization tasks within VMware and Suse Harvester, including creating virtual machines, templates, and images
  • Automate routine administrative and operational tasks using Bash and PowerShell scripts, and develop runbooks for repeatable processes
  • Monitor system environments, respond promptly to alerts, perform routine maintenance, and apply patches to ensure system stability
  • Participate in deployment and release activities, ensuring adherence to established change management processes
  • Document procedures, system topologies, and pipeline configurations to facilitate knowledge sharing and operational consistency
  • Research and evaluate new tools or approaches through proof-of-concept projects, sharing insights with the team for continuous improvement
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, escalate issues appropriately, and actively participate in retrospectives and process improvements
